Combat, battle IQ, and skill goes to merle. Combat- Merle was a marine. Marines are taught Kali, Muay Thai, karate, and tons of other CQC techniques. Battle IQ- again, merle was a marine. Skill- merle parried Michonne's sword with his knife hand (as someone who trains HEMA, that's some serious skill) and merle has shown to be a good shooter and is excellent at hand to hand.

@@SiahSpanMarines are for first invasions. They have to enlist for 2 years of hard, intense, and gruesome training. Every ex military will never forget their training.( Seriously, ask any who served and they have tons of stories about their service) Even if merle didn't use those techniques, he still knows them.

Shane didn't even spend a year in the apocalypse. Merle showed great durability when he cut off his own arm. Merle was beaten by 7 guys, and after that he fought back against the Governor. Merle survived much more than Shane, was the Governor's right hand, made plans with the Governor, was a commander and in the past Merle taught Daryl how to survive in the forest and hunt. Merle has military experience and was a US Marine.

@@Martirosyan22 Police training takes six months. Merle is a military man. Shane hasn't really fought strong opponents. In the battle, Rick had a weaker version of himself. Ed didn't even defend himself or resist, he was afraid of Shane.

@@kiduk-yt1tu Not really the actor John Bernthal(Shane) is 180cm, and the actor Michael Rooker(Merle) is 178cm, I'm not an expert but in my opinion 2cm difference is not visible at all. Afterwards yes it is possible that sometimes in the series they make the actors appear taller but in reality it is quite different..

Strenght- Shane, but don't underestimate Merle, even if he was destroyed by the Governor in strenght, the Governor was a beast too who overpowered even Rick and a horde of zombies, 6'3 bulky build and without an eye. Speed- Shane Agility- Shane IQ- Shane, he adapted so quickly in the apocalypse, outsmarted everyone in the group and made them follow his plan, but Merle was smart too, he wasnt just the usual crackhead, he read books in Woodbury and was somewhat religious, his perception and assessment of a situation we're very good. BIQ- I would go = for Shane before getting mad and S3 merle off dr*gs, don't forget that he's a military. Experience- Merle Combat- Merle, was able to hold his ground without weapons against Michonne's katana, and she is a skilled fighter too. In the arena he clearly was the strongest in the fist fights. Aim- They both showed their aiming skills and I think Shane is better for short distance aim and Merle is a better sniper. Melee- Merle, with and without the metal arm, he was in the Army, and they teach you many combat skills and techniques there. Adaptability- Shane, he adapted so quickly to the new world, he had the mentality of a S6 person in S2. Endurance- Merle, was able to walk off in a zombie apocalypse without an arm and a fresh big wound. Physicality- Merle is more imposing. Durability- Same as endurance, he survived in the arena, got beaten up by the governor, finger bitten off and he was a badass till the end. Feats- Merle Hax- Shane Skills- Merle Striking Strenght- Merle, he was able to knock tf out of Rick with only one punch while Shane had to put up a whole fight. Mentality- Shane Melee, Shane wins Extreme diff against Merle with only one arm, against a Merle with both hands Merle wins mid-high diff, with ranged weapons Shane wins mid diff, but a clean Merle and a not crazy Shane would've been a good duo. It would be a long lasting fight but overall I think Merle gets this fight High diff. But it can go the other way too with Shane being victorious.

Looks smoth, well edited but pretty cap to be honest Merle takes far more points though and wins mid or mid high diff overall Strength/AP - Merle with 1 arm grappled daryl to the ground in the Arena fight (3x6 or 3 x7, With 1 Arm restrained glenn, michonne and maggie couldnt get him off of glenn (3x13), Knocked rick down with 1 punch on the rooftop (1x2) Combat Speed/Reaction speed - Merle dodged michonnes sneak attack in the woods and then disarmed her with his knife hand, dodged Skill/Combat - Merle Shows better Melee and 1v1 no weapon combat, he effortlesly beat Glenn twice (when the Group broke Glenn and maggie out of woodburry and in 3x13 in the prison when he wanted to go shoot the Governer but glenn Was against it), he uses kicks,grappling and punches alike Agility - He fights more agile with dodges (Arena fight against Martinez for example) (3x5 i think) BIQ - Merle imo but this could be a tie Stamina - similar to endurance because he cleared the building after cutting of his hand and killed several Zombies Gun Fight- debatable depends on the range but its fine if you say shane wins a gun fight Conclusion: Gun fight = debatable, 1v1 no weapon and melee = merle easily Merle is one of the if not the most underrated characters and fighters in twd, Shane is overrated by a lot of people

fist fight, i was gonna say shane. because when rick fought with shane. in the fight you can see shane holding back and relax taking all punched by rick. if shane would've not holding back in that fight, rick would lose so badly
