Recovering alcoholic here. 14 years sober. When I was drinking, I didn't want anyone to know. When I stopped drinking, I didn't care who knew. I'm glad that you're in AA, because drunks talking to drunks is, at less for me, the only way out. Peace.

I have learned that I may always have insane thoughts.....the difference now I don't let those insane thoughts turn into an act or action......as long as they stay inside my head and I don't act upon them I will always live a better life…...wished I had known that 40 years ago.....

this is a nice testimony about addiction. As an avid A&E intervention viewer it seems like all of those addicts always have the same story all of the attics families are divorced and they were are all molested as children. addiction I would imagine could be a very scary thing after watching this guy story. he was never molested or anything growing up and seem to have very good morals ethics and values but addiction still got him.

Day 6 sober i thank God

Thanks sO much, Greg. You're testimony & music are very inspiring & encouraging. We found my 3 kids' father dead from alcohol today. He wasn't close to God, and that's what it takes. Bless you!

Im an alcoholic at age 26 since 16. In a very dark place and im getting my life back. I hate alcohol. I hate the day my mother gave me alcohol😢

Very intelligent and humble seeming guy. I like the ethos of AA - to find a God of your own understanding and surrender your addiction. Unfortunately I am not at that stage yet - to surrender this addiction and admit my powerlessness. I can't yet. I'm sure there will come a point for me though, hopefully. I use to drink every day when i joined the Army just to go to sleep no PTSD i just had problems​ with sleeping and one day i just stopped couldn't deal with the morning shits and seeing empty bottles

Go well brother. There is only one thing I get confused about. They say alcohol is a disease, but a 2 year old does not make the choice to have cancer. A teenager or a grown up person chooses to drink and makes that choice. CONTROVERSIAL for me

So many gifted people have substance abuse issues.And some of the smarted and most talented grapple with bipolar disorder.

Alcohol isn't the disease it's the mentality of the individual that makes it a disease...people don't choose to be overcome by alcohol or anything else... it's a mental disease... instead of trying to make people feel bad try say encouraging things to people... you never know what a person is going through...

Alcohol didn't kill him. But too much sun may give him skin cancer. All kidding aside it's good to see that he got better.

Alcoholism is not a disease and there's only one true God. Worldly recovery programs can't fix a spiritual problem. AA might be spiritual, but it isn't the gospel. Christ died so that we don't have to live the rest of our lives as addicts. Sad, sad story that the god of our own understanding might not be the one who holds the earth in place. Sweet man and I wish him all the best. I also wish for him to get out of AA and into a church family.

How much were you drinking each day? This is what fascinates me. I have a friend who drank a handle of vodka a day. I finish a 750ml in tow or three days and I’m working on stopping. But a handle a day would put me out.
