I remember my mother loved Shania Twain when I was a kid, and she had the Red and Green version CDs to play in the car. At the time I didn't know who Shania Twain was because I was only 5-6 years old, I just remembered a select few lyrics and a pretty woman on red and green CDs. Coming back and hearing Shania Twain all over again feels surreal, because not only is she a great singer and beautiful, but it reminds of one of the very few good memories I had with my mother growing up.

She grew up in a generation where she heard even better song lyrics on the radio and was inspired. This cross-generational learning is weakening from decade to decade. Today, kids are inspired by bad song lyrics, which can lead to even more rubbish being produced. I won't even start on AI. This cross-generational learning of AI will also weaken and will quote and weaken itself from generation to generation... I'll call it artificial inbreeding.

this song is catchy but BLAND and doesn't do anything showcase her real talent. also the entire track is auto tuned. Generic VCVCBR structure. Dont get me wrong i think its all right and I can listen to it on repeat but its not upper level talent.

Just finished watching her Netflix documentary. She is just everything in one package. She’s loved by everyone, women don’t feel intimidated by her outstanding beauty because she just seems like a truly lovely woman. Bet she’d be a great friend to have. Her song lyrics speak to you as well, everyone can identify with the words and feelings and the message in them. Mutt Lange was crazy for cheating on her. I’m glad she moved on and has found happiness again.

Cultural reset. This video will forever be engrained in my memory. The bodysuit, the (for the time) state of the art CGI, the makeup, the SONG. I've never had a huge love for country music, and this is arguably a more "pop" song, but it is a masterpiece that'll always stick with me.

love how this song holds such a special place in so many of our hearts, whether it's from childhood or otherwise distant memories, despite never really knowing who it was. In my case, I had no clue I could even say I like any country music. I just suddenly remembered the super catchy melody of this legendary chorus, and after 10 minutes of searching, was floored to find myself up and dancing, belting out country music, harmonizing with Shania Twain LOL. Don't tell my wife.

I just refound this song. Nostalgic. My father downloaded it on my first phone. It was one of my favourite songs when I was a child. In the meantime he died and through a new phone I had lost the song. Glad I refound it.

I remember myself being a big fan of Shania Twain in the late 90's. I am still a huge fan. Her latest album "Now" was different from her earlier stuff musically but I still love the album very much. I have also started to love "Up" even more. One of the reasons to love Shania is her positive lyrics and melodies. "Up!" has only one song about heart-break. Most of her songs are much fun. They bring smile to my face when I am down. When I listen to Shania I know "I'm Gonna Get Some Good!". She lost her voice in some point, she had a divorce and still "Now" is a very optimistic album about future. Of course there are songs about heartbreak but most artists would have cried through the album. Another country artist Sara Evans also had a divorce, her songs were much sadder after that. It is still OK because we all experience sad things in a different way. This song is maybe my favorite Shania Twain song and one of my favorite songs of 2000's.

I fell in love with this song when I was 15. The girl I liked at school sent me a text and asked if I was listening to the radio. I said that I was and the next thing I hear is the DJ saying this song was requested by her to me. First time in my life I genuinely felt butterflies. We started going out the next day. It didn't last of course. We went our separate ways before college, but it's definitely one of my fondest memories.

It's so crazy how the music videos from the 2000s are way more modern than the music videos from this decade considering that back then, there wasn't so much technology compared to now. 80s, 90s, and 2000s music videos were definitely so fun, creative and original. I remember watching these music videos on MuchMusic and MTV and be jumping around singing and dancing to these bops. Great times!

@@mimymercury2206 OMG I have the same thought as you. If I get asked what was the last decade of good music, I would say the 2000s. Although the early 2010s were good, around 2015, it was where music started becoming crappy.

I know especially since back then technology wasn't as huge as it is right now. But let me tell that there was a lot of creativity on each music video from the 80s-2000s era. It's sad that after the 2000s came to an end, the music videos as well as the music itself started going downhill.

I used to listen to this song dozens of times on a radio station called Radio Sawa, an American Arabic-language radio station, in 2002, before the American forces entered Iraq. This radio was specialized in news, especially Iraq in that period. This song used to come every half hour on that radio station, so it is ingrained in my mind. Every time I hear it, I remember those days, despite their cruelty, but I long for them. They were thousands of times better than now.

This song plays on a soundtrack at my job (just started last month) and when I heard it playing the first time, I did this weird, 360 degree dance thingy because I remember singing this song as a kid but I could never remember who sang it.
