Peter Lynch's Investing Rules and Strategy can be found in his two books - One Up on Wall Street & Beating the Street. In this video, I have extracted Peter Lynch's core strategies and applied them to the Indian stock markets. To my surprise, the approach yielded a 3 year CAGR of 46.2% -- which is another way of saying that the Peter Lynch investing strategy tripled my money in 3 years
Mathematically, for anyone to triple one's money in three years, it has to grow at 44.2% every year. The 32 stock portfolio that came out of employing Peter Lynch's stock selection criteria delivered a 3-year CAGR of 46.2% which doesn't even count dividends. In comparison, the benchmark returns (including dividend) in these past three years have been :
Nifty 50 TRI : 17.0%
Nifty Midcap 150 TRI : 25.5%
Nifty Smallcap 250 TRI : 27.1%

My research seems to suggest, there is a cyclical opportunity of making 10-15% on REITs at below average risk by purchasing units when the marketprice-to-NAV is less than 18% and selling it when that discount reach 5%. This 13% alpha is excluding dividends .. so overall an 18% return is plausible. The video offers a lot more .. enjoy! The next video release is tomorrow (4th Jan), see you then :)

Hi Shankar, I have a doubt. I am planning to do a basket investment of 1 Lac each (10 stocks) using peter lynch approach, magic formula, coffee can and may be CANSLIM. It will be around 4 lacs. How do i select those 10 stocks out of many that gets shortlisted by using the methodology you have provided. Of course i try to read about the business but i want to invest without any biasness as there would be some bias towards businesses that I already know e.g. TCS in coffeecan. So i need to know how do i select 10 or 20 from many under one screener.

Thank you so much for for putting this information together! However, I am confused about the p/e segment. Is it favorable that a stock's p/e is lower than it's industry and self over 5 years? Or does that indicate a stock to avoid? thank you so much!

Thanks Adam. That's what (company PE < industry PE) Peter Lynch is hinting at. I'll still look at a screener like bread crumbs and not as a road through the forest. So while these filters bring us to about 100 companies we have to analyse each of them further. Ofcourse some bad ones will slip in and some good ones will slip out

Thanks a lot for the informative presentation, I learned a lot from this video. I would like to ask a question regarding the growth ratio, in your opinion, is it better to look at growth ratio from the net profit, or is it better to look at from the EPS? Also, regarding the growth ratio, is there a written rule to measure it in a specific earnings growth timeframe like measuring the earnings growth by 5 years earning growth, 1 year earning growth, or quartal earning growth?

Most welcome. 1. I would prefer EPS growth 2. There is no written rule. A lot of investing is based on opinions and the practitioner's research and experience

Wouldn't it be fair to check the screener on 5 year back data and than test the results instead of checking for current year and than back testing as the ratios might be different 5 years back and the companies might be different then what got selected?
