Well Whitebeard did recognise teach as a threat which is why he told ace to not go after teach. But Whitebeard didn't want to look like he couldn't control his crew and so covered for ace when Shanks arrived.

Great video! The one thing I’d say is that I don’t think Teach was “playing a role” while acting as a member of Whitebeard’s family. I think he legitimately admired the old man like a father, and probably considered the other members of the crew to be his siblings. Blackbeard is simply the kind of person that will kill his own family in order to get what he wants, and afterwards chalk it up to bad luck that fate put them between him and his goals. IMO that makes him way more terrifying

@@narutokiubissj2 may very well be true however fate or heavenly mandates is a key feature in One Piece. It just wasnt suppose to go down like that. Like Luffy being saved by lightning on same day Roger got executed in Logue town. Blackbeard finally met Luffy when he wasnt searching for him in Impeldown after all that time he was seeking Luffy. They both met in Mocktown. Two Ds with different goals and dreams. Clearly as Whitebeard said Roger is not waiting for Teach. Teach will find out one day that despite all his efforts he will never achieve the goal he endeavored. Fate wont allow him.

They were both novice pirates at the time though, were they not? This was before Shanks lost an entire arm to a sea king. This would not happen to an advanced haki user like rayleigh, for example

Another parallel: both Shanks and Blackbeard acquired a trademark symbol from their former captain. The former got the strawhat, the latter the gura gura no mi. The strawhat, symbol of friendship and optimism and dreams, obtained as a gift. The second, an incredibly destructive tool, obtained by force.

wano is literally almost over lol, this last fight, the couple of chapters for the resolution, and then it's on to the next arc. i doubt there will be more than 2 or 3 major arcs like wano before we reach the series finale, so one piece ending within the next 4-5 years is very possible

I just wish we get to see Shanks fighting alongside Buggy against Blackbeard. I also think that if Blackbeard kills Shanks, that would be a great moment for Luffy to give back his Straw Hat. You'd just see Luffy with the shadow on his eyes calmly putting his belove hat on Shanks body just before he dies and then he turns around, looks right at Blackbeard with the deadliest eyes we've seen, unleashing the most Conqueror's Haki we've seen in a pure rage moment. There is just so much we can imagine from these types of fights... I can't wait!

If Shanks was so worried about Blackbeard why did he finish him off at Marineford? You ask Whitebeard to do it, he doesn’t, dies, have an opportunity to take care of it yourself and didnt do anything

Even though he didn't look it, Shanks and his crew just arrived fresh off a scuffle with Kaido. They couldn't have been at a 100 percent. It wouldn't be as easy as just killing Blackbeard, they would be an all-out war between the 2 crews and both sides would suffer losses. Not to mention the marine forces still present at the scene who would capture the wounded winners.

You forget that Garp has basically not fought at all at this point. Fighting a ton of lvl 6 Impel Down prisoner’s + a double fruit Blackbeard would probably mean defeat for all pirate crews there. Garp would wash all of them

theory(not a serious one) : blackbeard has a Cerberus(three headed hound) devil fruit, which would explain zoro's "there is more than one" in their first meeting and the three skulls of his. and this is why he can have three devil fruits and it also cover all three types: BB's yami yami (logia), WB's fruit (paramecia) and cerberus (zoan)

What makes it more interesting to me is that Shanks likely has no Devil Fruit, meanwhile Blackbeard's fruit has an advantage against fellow fruit users. Wonder if Oda will make that an intentional move by Shanks or if he just likes to swim...

I don't dabble much in fan theories but a personal one that still fascinates me is that Shanks might either be Xebec's son or somehow blood related to him. One of the bigger recurring themes is the "carrying on of a will/dream" and I feel Shanks might be an exception, actively contradicting the dream of his father or whatever (e.g. trying to leave a stable world behind, keeping the status quo or making amends for Xebec to some degree maybe). On the other hand we have Blackbeard who sees himself as inheritor of Xebec's will and therefore is a force against Shank's ideals while Shanks might actually be a direct descendant. Maybe it's all bull but it would be compelling to have a son not carry on his father will (or whatever relation they might have) while another does. Shanks' D initial might be another secret alongside the whole Xebec/Rocks incident. It would further explain why he was on a pirate ship and especially THAT pirate ship at a very young age. I mean Roger himself said to some extend that children do no carry on sins (not an exact quote!), so it would make sense if he lived by these words he spoke to Garp in prison. Either way, might be just wishful thinking, ignoring facts/timelines I am not 100% aware of, misdirection by Oda or whatever, we'll know eventually but yeah I'll go with that theory for now.
