Shannon had two other big dance songs. 'Give me tonight'" and "Do you wanna get away". This song was obviously her biggest and it's a great tune!

When this song came on back then even the guys who rarely go out to the dance floor did because they knew the floor would be packed! 80's Was a great time for Dance Clubs! Great memories

Shannon actually had a few hit dance songs..this and Give Me The Night were HUGE hits in the Clubs and Everyone hit the floor when they came on. One of The Best dance hits of all time actually.

Right. Most classify this music as "Freestyle" and credit her for having the first hit song of this genre.

It was considered Electro Hip Hop along with other artists like C-Bank "One More Shot" Xena "On The Upside" Jenny Burton "Remember What You Like" Jay Novelle "If This Ain't Love" and Loleatta Holloway "Crash Goes Love" This was all before Freestyle was even mentioned on anybodies lips which started in 1986. From 1981 to 1985 were the best times for Electro Music.

This was a massive hit for her it was played on almost every radio station. and definitely in every club. I honestly think this was considered the first 'Club Dance Song' because disco was already fading. She had a few other hits 'Give Me Tonight' (my personal favorite by her)and 'Do You Wanna Get Away' but I guess they weren't big hits...her story was sort of sad if you wanna look her up.💯❤‍🔥

This was straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥hit on the radio and in the clubs ! They even played the video on MTV! She did have a few other hits in the R&B charts , she still looks the same today and still singing!

Dancing by yourself was a big thing in the eighties. You didn't see people dancing by themselves in the seventies. You always had a partner or were line-dancing in a group. In the eighties, people still danced in couples, but you also saw a kind of trendy, self-absorbed dance-floor posing by yourself, with people kind of slowly drifting out onto the dance floor individually trying to look distant and inscrutable in their black eyeliner, hair dyed black, and trendy garb.

This got more radio play but "Give Me Tonight" was the one that rocked the clubs and blew the roof off. Fantastic voice, and maybe when the techno sound wasn't yet overplayed.

I heard this a while back and kept waiting for the "Cruel Summer " chorus to hit. Did some research and this was only big on the Rn'B chart hit a year earlier 83 than 84's Summer. I feel she got ripped off quite a bit! Great vocal and awesome dance jam!

I'm not sure Shannon qualified as a one hit wonder, I thought "Give me tonight" was released not long after this became a hit and it seemed to do very well.

If the *Dance and R&B* charts were included, yep, Shannon isn’t a one hit wonder. LTMP was her only song that reached the US Pop chart.
