Shannon Sharpe and Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson revisit a topic they spoke on during a previous Nightcap episode about how the costs of childcare creates friction in relationships. Unc and Ocho break down how the costs to raise a child have skyrocketed since they were kids, why private high schools like IMG Academy can charge such high tuition for athletes, and how Shannon being forced to compete with his older brother Sterling growing up made him learn how to be great.

My family is life long Packers fans and are from Wisconsin. I was 7 years old and Sterling was my favorite player, I had his jersey and everything, I remember my dad telling me he wasn’t going to play anymore after he got hurt and I cried my eyes out.

If Kobe didn’t comeback from his Achilles injury I may have cried to brother. Only person I ever cried for when he passed that I didn’t know personally or period at the time & ironically I lost my mother later the same year. I thought I cried when Kobe died? Mannnn I nearly lost my marbles lmao. Shit I may have left her take a couple with her 😂 . Got a lil personal at the end but I feel you my guy! That’s ya boy!

Lol not true. Less kids theoretically mean more attention from the teacher. Better paid and trained teachers could also help spot your child's short comings. It really is about whether the school cares AND has the resources to help your child thrive.

Sometime it’s not ducking competition. Coaches show favoritism and some spots are spoken for before the 1st day of summer practice. It’s not a competition…If you play that position, you’re just not playing that year. Nothing wrong with changing schools to get playing time. In fact…that is the most competitive thing you can do because then you get to compete against the school/coaches who didn’t believe in you.
@Aaron-kj8dv
@Aaron-kj8dv 8 ай бұрын
I agree 100% I don't see why coaches get this shield of being these all knowing people who can recognize talent and should never be questioned. There's terrible coaches who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground in the NFL (cough cough Matt Patricia). Of course there's coaches at the lower level who are just as clueless. I had a basketball coach who thought he was Bob Knight and would cost us winnable games because of his outbursts.
@mobrown1198

@@Aaron-kj8dvyeah. The transition from youth sports to high school comes with a bunch of politics. I’ve watched my middle son go through this in football. He didn’t play with the youth program that “fed” the High School program. He was / is a dual sport athlete. I would watch him “TOURCH” every DB on the team (all of whom were highly “recruited”) His sophomore season he had 4 passes thrown to him. He scored 4 touchdowns. Including the game he started. Yet he just couldn’t break through… he had offers to transfer but family dysfunction (divorce) kept in place. He eventually “quit” football to focus solely on track which he’s been awarded multiple offers so far and counting… Runs a sub 4.5 now, he says he will get back to football as it is his first love. He and his older brother (recent transfer to Rhode Island after being a 2X all American at the D2 level, believe he has the talent to play at the collegiate level. The coaches show nepotism and favoritism. My son wasn’t the only talented player to not see the field. Had several players transfer and get PT and college offers. SMH. Coaches can especially derail a players career on the lower levels.

Happened to me in 7th grade i tried out for basketball still got cut because my family wasnt known in town i knew i did better than some guys but they still cut me i didnt have the option so i made myself a football player instead because if you made it through conditioning you made the team also happened my junior year in highschool i outperformed a guy and he got playing time he moved to tight end we both started senior year still annoying.

Sounds like it’s coming from someone who wasn’t getting PT and made every excuse in the book. The most competitive thing would be to compete and win the job. Be undeniable. If you’re good enough, they’re gonna get you on the field. The crème always rises
@jaayeee24
@jaayeee24 7 ай бұрын
@@elonfux2492 the cream doesn’t always rise…not just in sports but also in life. Sometime you just don’t get the opportunity. If you play quarterback and the coaches son plays quarterback, you’re not playing quarterback on that team that year. So what should you do if you want to compete??? Go to another team and beat that coach and his son that year. That’s the most competitive thing you can do. I promise that even if you’re undeniably better than the coaches son 99 out of 100 times, he’ll pick his son. The best you can hope for is that he moves you to wide receiver and you get some playing time.

Unc,, you bringing up too many memories bout working in that tobacco field. I swear 4 God these kids these days knows nothing bout that hard work pulling that bacco. It's been over 40yrs and I still can remember the damn smell of the tobacco wax on my hands and clothes had to set them outside on the back porch to dry cause I had to put them back on later to go help heist the bacco in the barn. I hated those early 6am mornings my granddaddy waking me up to get on the back of that damn truck, but today I understand the valuable lesson about hard work. Those were the good ole days, worked all day for $20 and I thought I was rich back then. 😁
