OK! The votes are in. Folks want to learn Man of the House for the Aug 29th Virtual Guided Session. Here's a breakdown of the tune in advance... and we'll play it near the top of next week's session!

Love this one! Thanks Shannon. So glad it made the # NameYerTune cut. Had to miss this weekends session but luckily I can watch and play later. Will focus on this gem first❣️

Gotta record it and send it to you. You reckon we could do a sort of multi-clip? Not sure if that wording is accurate. I saw on Tune Supply like 20-30 people playing the same tune on separate very small parts of the screen. I wonder what program Chris and Caitlín used. But I shall learn your version and variations, Shannon. Have a lovely Sunday! X I started learning Boys of Bluehill, I am at the B part now 😺 It's really fun. I tried to learn King of the Fairies just before I stopped the guitar 3 years ago. It wasn't too easy I found at the time.

oh, nice idea to do another remote collaboration with folks. For this coming week/Man of the House, I was just thinking this could be a guide for learning it... so we can all play it together at the session next week. But I'll think about another recording project, like the Si Beag Si Mor we did a few months ago!

Melvorgazh . The online academy of Irish music do a session tune , where the people on their courses play a tune all together on loads of screens. Not sure how they synchronise it mind you .

These are so helpful. Knowing where to breathe is a big issue for me.

Why does it seem like it goes AA/B instead of AA/BB? Doesn't that break some sort of session code?
@ShannonHeatonMusic3 жыл бұрын
Ah, good question! This is a single reel. Each part is just eight bars. The parts ARE equal in length. But there's a lot of repeated material in the A part (the first and second phrases are the same as the third and fourth phrases).

I just looked this up on the Session, and apparently, it's also known as "Crossing the Shannon".
