Steve Lightfoot’s latest Apple Original Series, Shantaram marks Charlie Hunnam’s return to television after eight years. The series was adapted from the beloved novel by Gregory David Roberts. It stars Charlie Hunnam, Antonia Desplat, Alexander Siddig and Shubham Saraf. Ensemble cast includes Luke Pasqualino, Vincent Perez, Electra Jansson Kilbey and Fayssal Bazzi.
Shantaram is co-created and executive produced by Steve Lightfoot. The first three episodes were directed by Emmy nominee, Bharat Nalluri (“Little America,” “Professionals”), who also serves as an executive producer. Lightfoot, Hunnam, and Nalluri exec produce alongside Andrea Barron, Nicole Clemens, Steve Golin, Justin Kurzel and Eric Warren Singer, who co-created the series with Lightfoot, also executive produces. The series is produced for Apple by Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content’s AC Studios.

I read the book while traveling in India and I have been in a few places which are in the book, even stayed at the same guest house when he first arrived in Mumbai. Great book! Let's hope the series is going to be good as well.

@@aziza000 That would be true towards Haryana, UP, Bihar etc. Travelling from Nepal to Pune one time a Marathi girl actually asked me why everything in Patna seemed a bit hazy and yellowish, took me a minute to work out what she was even talking about because I was so used to the dust. The coastal areas down south are rarely ever like that. Different climate, soil, less deforestation, much lower population density.

Every Role they picked the right person. But for Kader Bhai, they should have been selected some one else. Quasem bhai would more appropriated for Kader bhai role.

I didn't like a single character cast in this show except Lin...and what's with Prabhakar? You didn't find an actual Indian actor for his role? Why hire an American Indian faking Indian accent? No wonder fans of the book hated this show and it tanked!!! So sad!!!! You don't even have comments here to show how sad the acting cast was....extremely disappointed as a fan 😢

India have 28 states 9 union territories but still each and every time they show Dharavi slum area. This series may be based on some book etc but Hollywood show Dharavi as whole Mumbai oops I mean whole India. This movie even not shoot in Mumbai.
