I don't think it's the "running on water" bit they were originally trying to show, but the stamina it takes to keep balance and maintain enough speed to go fast enough that you dont sink while standing on a plank.

+Tony Seagle There is a clear difference between the rape of a child and this monk running across this lake over those boards. What this monk did was an achievement that required years of training and was very difficult to do, child rape is a crime and is frowned upon by society. To say criticizing this monk because it was not that amazing because physics, is similar to criticizing a child rapist is not logical.

It's not about the forward speed. This is a case, where you need to have a high speed of your feet stomping on those boards. If you want, you can try to stand in one place, but you have to move your feet fast enough to keep you over water.

If the haters took the time to realize that those boards are light weight as fuck, maybe you would realize how difficult this actually is. Those boards aren't anywhere near heavy enough to keep a person above the water, its just stupid to assume things and not actually consider every detail.

awais anwar Meanwhile, those of us who are rational, intelligent, well-educated, and skeptical are able to look at what he did as an impressive feat of athleticism, while considering the physics at play in that floating runway. Not only are the individual boards buoyant, they are also tethered in a series, allowing the combined buoyancy of all boards and the tension of the overall runway to contribute towards the forces necessary to support the monk (assuming he is one - there is a long history of non-Shaolin being paraded as Shaolin monks). Have you considered those details yourself? And by laughing off any suggestion of anything more than physics and athleticism as an explanation, while simultaneously offering kudos for his athleticism, am I a hater in your mind?

Jifftastic Ghozt I think your non-rhetorical comment has no greater _'depth'_ than my comment, and is mere gratuitous criticism to the same degree mine was. Way to go with that finely done commentary, sir. :P If somebody says _"its just stupid to assume things and not actually consider every detail"_ while seemingly not having considered every detail, I feel entitled to point that out in my _'intellectual grandstanding'_ manner when his reference to _"haters"_ would, presumably, include anyone such as myself who denies anything but a mundane explanation with some athleticism thrown in to boot.
@formeraxe117
@formeraxe117 9 жыл бұрын
***** While it is favorable to criticize everything(vitriol is another story), I found that your first retort was quite petty. No one has all the answers, ergo everyone is ignorant on some level. I believe proper research strips away 'glaring ignorance', and puts you in a higher state of cognizance. Could he have done such research? Probably. However, I felt he at least understood the foundation of the video's content. Now, I shall give a little criticism myself. "Meanwhile, those of us who are rational, intelligent, well-educated, and skeptical are able to look at what he did as an impressive feat of athleticism, while considering the physics at play in that floating runway. Not only are the individual boards buoyant, they are also tethered in a series, allowing the combined buoyancy of all boards and the tension of the overall runway to contribute towards the forces necessary to support the monk (assuming he is one - there is a long history of non-Shaolin being paraded as Shaolin monks)." This quote gives off quite a negative impression(one that I realize is just an impression, not fact.) You come off as pompous; pretentious even. Going on about your intellect, as well as your critical impression of the 'monk'(who is really not a monk, so you're correct.) "its just stupid to assume things and not actually consider every detail" You've also been very critical of this quote. Isolating it, and drawing your own conclusion. Strawman at its finest. Well, not its finest, but a decent example. I understand what you're trying to prove here; really. However, I find it a bit puerile to dismantle a person's opinion so callously. Just some friendly criticism.

Jo Im lol i know... I was talking about the monks across the world have their OWN kind of Olympic style games, not compete in the actual Olympics with real athletes... They could do events that are widely popular within their temples, kinda like this video they could do the 100m walk on water, catching and shooting arrows, fastest 100ft tree climb, quickest balance run across a thin beam, longest barefooted cross country run, standing one footed balanced on top of a telephone pole, fastest at making incense blind folded, balancing on a floating log, longest underwater swim, balancing stacking rocks on head while meditating... you know odd but natural athletic feats of strength monks like to do or are known to do, but turned into an every 10year monk "Olympic" games for temple bragging rights and stuff... I just think that would be so cool!
