Draw, animate, repeat. Always repeat. They say Pete and Repeat tried to make flat style burst embellishments. Pete made 3 keyframes, duplicated a bunch and was done before lunch. Who was left? Repeat. Okay, I will. Draw, animate, repeat...
The shape layer repeater is a powerful and excellent tool that you should for sure know about and exploit often to make amazing graphics quickly and cheaply.

I love how you show what you are going to teach BEFORE you start, its so frustrating finding a tutorial on what you think is what you are trying to learn, but you have to skip through the video first to find what the end result is to make sure. We can make it more interesting by adding a little expression on rotation to make it react to the number of copies dynamically: 360/content("Repeater 1").copies

That's very cool, many thanks. Fast and straight to the point. Putting everything in an empty group is a killer trick! One thing however, I can not get a bezier handle for my "group position" curve, I have all other handles but this one.

Hi Evan. I enjoy your tutorials mosty but this time i have got a rather disturbing problem. I don't know if i'm highly uncapable or stupid, but my curves in graph editor don't have such a form from the beginning. this time i tried and did everything the same as you but except for one they do not look like that. They also start at 0 but then end anywhere but 0. I'm rather confused. what do i do wrong? (around 3:52)

Awesome tutorial! One speed bump I ran into while following was that the way the Repeater and Path Shapes are stacked matters. You will need to put the Repeater outside of the Group layer and below it for it to affect the group. Also even before that step, you will need to put the "Transform: Group" stacked below the Shape Path and Stroke that you want to affect. At least that is what made this work for me, please correct if I am wrong... (using After Effects CC 2015.3)

Hi! thanks for the great tutorial video and I am having a problem here... seems like the rotation of my repeater goes wrong. I am suspecting that the 0,0 is on the top left corner but not in the centre of the composition. How do I solve this? thx a lot
