When I coach my players to travel with the ball forward in a shooting position, I tell the player to imagine themselves as a tri-pod, one leg egg beater vertical, one leg egg beater behind as propulsion to move forward, and the non throwing arm stabilizing in front of the body. I'm trying to visualize how this would look with the hips square with where the player plans to shoot. If a player is traveling forward with the ball pump faking, wouldn't the hips turn so they would not be square with the direction of the shot?

If it’s a right handed player for example you are correct his right leg will be behind him, but the hips will still be square. As if I took a half step forward on land with my left leg but both feet are still pointed forward. I need to show this in a future video I think you’ll better see what I’m talking about. I find that once I go from this land exercise to the water that right leg naturally goes back a bit when you bring the ball back. I love the idea of the tripod, that’s a good visual.

Thank you, I just uploaded a short with an explanation of what I was talking about. Let me know if that meshes with what you were saying and clarifies the positioning a bit. Appreciate the kind words!
