In this TEDxBeloit presentation, Debra Majeed, a professor of Religious Studies at Beloit College and the author of “Polygyny: What It Means When African American Muslim Women Share Their Husbands,” discusses her research on the challenges and realities facing many devout African American Muslim women.
Debra Majeed is a professor of religious studies and chair of the philosophy and religious studies department at Beloit College. She is the first African American woman and the first Muslim to be tenured in the 169-year history of Beloit. She holds a doctorate in religious and theological studies from Northwestern University.
