Our first time sharing Iftar with local Malaysians in Merdeka Square!
After a few comments from our previous video gave us a hint toward Iftar being held at Merdeka Square, we thought we should go and see if we could join in.
Not knowing much else other than that it was on the weekends (we almost went on a weekday also, but that's another story...) we headed over and were blown away as always by the hospitality. So many people were smiling, waving, facetiming with us and it was such a nice atmosphere.
We met three lovely people, Hanani, Fitri and Aiysha, who invited us to sit with them and share Iftar. We spent a couple of hours chatting and learning more about each other. It was such a wholesome evening and we feel like we've genuinely made some new friends.
Thank you for watching and take care,
Jacob and Emma

Yes.... Ramadhan is also about sharing and caring. It's all part of the religion apart from taking care of our senses ...'do no evil, say no evil, hear no evil' 🇲🇾 And I spent a few student years living in Enfield, N London a long time ago. Certainly not an MU fan.....C.O.Y.S

In Islam "None amongst you believes (truly) until he loves for his brother" - or he said "for his neighbour" - "that which he loves for himself." from Sahih Muslim 45a so the hospitality and the people who treat you kind are the one who truly follows Islam.

We actually gave fasting a go yesterday! (Keep your eyes peeled for a video next Tuesday 👀). We found it hard, but I think we are not used to it, but it definitely made us appreciate our food and drink more. Also it definitely does make you feel about the horrible situations people all over the world live in, not knowing when their next meal is.

Actually for me when you are at home not at work, eg during the weekend it is more challenging as food is nearby and time passes slowly. Whereas when you are working, you are busy, fully occupied , thus time passes quickly and by the time you arrive home, you don't have to wait too long before iftar. Just my two cents. Fasting in the UK this year is fairly easy because of the cold weather!
@DisappearforDays
@DisappearforDays 3 ай бұрын
That's a good point, sometimes when you've got a lot on at work, I can imagine it naturally goes out of your mind! I think the heat would be the hardest thing as we like to try and stay hydrated. It must be much less demanding in a cooler climate! Thank you for watching ☺️

@@DisappearforDays In malaysia the daylight & hours of darknes are more or less constant, no changes throughout the year, 12 hours each. In countries with 4 seasons, fasting in summer is particularly hard because of the long daylight hours (the sun rises early and it gets dark very late). But it is compensated in winter as the daylight hours are pretty short!
@Yasin_Affandi
@Yasin_Affandi 3 ай бұрын
@@azizahabdullah1143Yes Azizah. If you are occupied the whole day time with work at office, then just buy some food from the bazaar for iftar. And yes, that's what I heard from few of my friends in Europe, fasting time for the day is longer, but the cold weather help a bit I guess.

@@azizahabdullah1143 That's good to know, it's just more or less the same hours of fasting in Malaysia or Singapore. In Kuantan, Subuh now is around 6.10am and Maghrib is around 7.20pm. So, not much of different between Malaysia and the UK in terms of fasting hours during March/April. 😀

@@DisappearforDays Prime Minister will usually organise one open house where everyone is invited. However, I think it s best if you can go to a new friend's house. Experience having makan 2 and chit chatting until 2am 😅

Hahaha, that sounds like a brilliant experience! We don't have too many friends in person at the minute as we've been travelling all around the place, but maybe can head to the PM open house and show people what its like 😊
