Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel. Today I’m sharing my Tilly and the Buttons Indigo collection. It’s a pattern I reach for time and time again and in this vlog I share why as well as all the variations I’ve made.
Thank you so much to everyone for commenting on my latest videos and subscribing. I’ve loved feeling part of the sewing community and chatting about sewing with you all.
I’m wearing my navy polka dot indigo dress using fabric bought from Sewmesunshine.
You can find the pattern here:

Hi Liz, last week I watched your video about your 22 Indigo dresses and then I finally plucked up the courage and bought this pattern. It has arrived just now😀. I very much enjoy watching your videos and look forward to your new postings. Best wishes from sunny Sussex. Jadranka

My favourites are the you wore with the coral shoes and the green one. My favourite is the Nina Lee Southbank dress but I have still only made 2 so far. They do get worn a lot in winter.

What might be really fun using the exposed ruffles would be to do a strip down the center front double ruffled and maybe even with sewn on fun buttons down the middle of the double ruffle strip just to change it up a little. Really a cute pattern.

Thank you so much for sharing your huge collection of dresses using this pattern. It is very inspiring and I will be getting the pattern soon to make it myself. I have recently discovered the joys of dressmaking after been well and truly put off it all by my sewing teacher nearly 50 years ago now!!! How dreadful a waste that is! I started off by sewing the patterns made by Sonia Philip 100 Acts of Sewing which are simple to sew and can give different looks depending on fabric choice. Once again many thanks and happy stitching.

I have just finished my first indigo dress. Which was my first item of dressmaking ever using the Flying Bobbins Tutorials on KZfaq. Liz is amazing and does a full 8 parts sew-a-long. I got the full pack from her website, material, thread, interfacing and the pattern. She is amazing. I couldn't of made the dress without the video's but now I feel I could follow a tilly pattern better after learning the techniques. Your Indigos are beautiful. You make me want to make more now. X

Thank you! Another lovely video. I agree, be proud and say 'Thank you .I made it. I also understand your shyness - I have suffered all my life with shyness yet people couldn't understand it and would say, but Margaret you're a teacher!! Yes I was and when I was wearing my 'teacher hat' it was my job to be up front and out there.' The real me (and still is to a certain extent) is terrified of new situations and meeting people.

Thank u so much for watching and for your comment. I can totally relate. In the classroom I’m this confident and chatty teacher who loves to be around children laughing and singing. But put me in a room full of grown ups and my social anxiety gets a hold and suddenly I can’t think of anything to say! I have the same conversations with people so it’s nice to know I’m not the only one. I do need to get more confident say I made it though! Xx

Thank you for showing your lovely dresses. I have never been inspired by the pattern, partly because I don't like the fabric of the pattern photo- i can't wear and don't really like yellow/mustard so it put me off! @@Thebakerthatsews Sometimes it's nice to blow you're own trumpet. Anyway, we appreciate your makes. You have taken your hobby a BIG step forward than most of us. I've never shared anything I've made on social media only to a few friends and family. I also encourage friends and family to sew. They have bought their machines, don't have the same passion and enthusiasm as myself. I am in Barbados at the moment, (have been here during the pandemic) but returning to the UK in August. I have a sewing set-up in both places - couldn't do without a sewing machine!

I guessed you'd have made 25 Indigos, so I wasn't far wrong! 😊 I have followed you for a while and I know how prolific you are... I don't have 22 dresses in total, let alone 22 of the same pattern! That said, I have made dozens of Agnes tee shirts in all different colours and sleeve variations, so that has to be my "go to" pattern. Happy sewing!

My word, 22 indigos that's amazing. My most made from a pattern is 6 Cleo dresses and possibly the same or maybe more from the Coco pattern. I absolutely love the indigo dress since making my first one so can completely see why it's a favourite. I've done mine with the exposed ruffle waist and the straight sleeves. My next one I intend to do the flounce sleeves too. I 100% agree about friendships on Instagram etc. I've made loads through just messaging each other and it's always amazing when you do eventually get to meet. Xx

Love all your Indigo dresses! I don’t feel comfortable just saying I made it either; when someone compliments something I made, I just say thanks, it’s a *insert pattern name*. People who sew usually ask for details, and we have a nice conversation about sewing.

Wow! What an interesting video and a brilliant collection! Hard to pick a favourite. I absolutely love the maxi green one but I rather liked one of the winter navy long sleeved versions. Going to carry o. Watching now. I guessed 20 so I was close. I also love your final one. I have this pattern but have not made it. I tried the new sewhouse seven gathered dress and it’s not me although I really love sew house seven. So I’m nervous about the indigo. I’m going to have a go. Thankyou.!!!! The Indigo is my nemesis at the moment but I love all your versions. I am always too shy to tell people that I've made things. I don't want them to think I'm showing off! Those that know I sew sometimes ask, in which case I do tell them, but I always feel embarrassed. Especially in case they think it's rubbish haha! You should definitely be loud and proud about yours though, you have so many amazing me-made outfits. Thanks also for the encouragement to engage with the sewing community - I'm new to it all and feeling a bit scared to chat to people, and I don't make anywhere near as many things so perhaps don't have much to talk about. Yet... thanks for another great video x

Hi Liz, thanks for sharing your Indigos! Did you use a different neckline finish on your dresses? I have made two and they both gape slightly at the back neckline. I have used the facing as per the pattern and wondering if a different finish may help?
@Thebakerthatsews
@Thebakerthatsews 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. I used a light bias for some of the dresses instead of facing as I felt the facing pulled the neckline out of shape a little and for some of the lighter viscose dresses it kept riding up despite being under stitched! I prefer the button down back pattern piece and style and have found that neckline better xx
