“Our first fight is against being ignored.” Unfortunately, stories of missing indigenous women are not just plot lines on Yellowstone. It’s an all-too common occurrence, and that’s why Taylor Sheridan and the cast want to inform and educate.

Yellowstone is a drama series that follows the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). The Duttons control the largest contiguous ranch in the U.S. and must contend with constant attacks by land developers, clashes with an Indian reservation and conflict with America's first national park.

You really don't get it, do you? Educate yourself before you pass judgement onto a people, especially people that have been mistreated ever since their lands were found. Are you really saying simply because they have police forces that can't deal with a constant problem of kidnappings and rapes it should just happen and they shouldn't complain, because it's "their doing anyway". People come from outside the reservation KNOWING that the tribal police often is un-able to do much and they abuse the people and the system. And somehow you believe that it's all their fault? Do you believe in God? Because if so you do a poor job at it. It is people like you that others must fight against, it is you who are truly ignorant.@ndmentMF

I'll be honest. I never understood that these problems are so prevalent within the native American communities.I studied a bit about the their history but before Yellowstone, I was pretty ignorant to the daily struggles they face today. Going forward, I am going to make an effort to educate myself and hopefully lend my support.

Please read your history or talk to a Native Community. I read On The General's and of the Civil war and how they the Military Generals just wanted to anilate the natives. They did this to the Hispanics. Told them they could keep their land but to become American citizens. Then the gold rush started and people coming from the East to find gold took and killed for the land. It's in pictures when they make Native children cut their hair and dressed as white people cause they just wanted their land and Indians to the White people were dirty.

@@cynthiagonzales9131 Yeah, like I said, I have a general knowledge of the history of what was basically the genacide of Native Americans. I became very interested when I found out my great grandmother on my father's side was Native American. I read about the trail of tears and how men, women and children would die of starvation, the elements or they would just disappear. My point was that I really didn't (and still don't) know about the struggles of indigenous people of today or the issues that they face everyday living on reservations. Yellowstone has really brought the issues to light for me and I plan on educating myself, and then hopefully others, on the reality of what life is like for Native Americans living on reservations in the year 2020.❤️

@@amylmoquin519 LMAO “the genocide of Native Americans “where did you hear that from I wonder? If you break the word history down in its phonetic form it translates to “His Story”. It would seem you heard the wrong version. Ever hear of the American Indian war, it lasted about 300 years and there was a winning side & a losing side, the Native Americans were on the losing side but it still took 300 years for that to happen. Hardly a genocide as I recall it. In the end the losing side still got tax free land for them to build multi million dollar casinos on. Name another country that did that for the losers.

In recent years, I've become a private student on Native/Indigenous people. Heck, I've got a whole playlist on this very site titled "Native America". Yellowstone, as well as films like Wind River and Songs my Brother Taught Me, and other shows such as Longmire and Reservation Dogs, have been a real education for me as far as their modern struggles and lack of media attention. Alot of it, I read and researched first out of sheer curiosity. Since then, I've studied and learned alot, but there is so much more to assimilate and I personally embrace that fact. Taylor does an excellent job and as a writer myself, I take cues from him among others and make an effort to put at least ONE indigenous person in my work. I only wish he cast an actual Native woman for Monica like he cast an actual Native for Thomas and Mo. Everyone knows Kelsey is half-Chinese...

Kids in those communities sucking glue like they are doing in the poorest african countries. A lot of people forget who was first on that land. First, I want to take a moment to say how grateful and thankful I am for this to take front and center on Yellowstone. Thank you, Mr. Sheridan, thank you. Second, say what you will about President Trump, but he is the first damn president I know that has not only listened to our Elders and those who have been working so damn hard to get the attention of all of us about the disappearance of our family members, but gave us $133 million dollars of federal money. This money is all towards finding our family members who have disappeared without or barely a trace. I don’t think there is a reservation in this country who has not had our People killed or stolen. And for how long? Way too long. My heart aches, it hurts, and so I pray. I am also one who wants accountability to those who have done this, the criminals the convicts, the serial killers, the kidnappers, all of them. There was a video done by the White House where President Trump had sat and listened to our Elders and those who have not quit looking. I believe it had been in March? It had been right after the virus hit, so I’m guessing 2019? 2020? I’m sorry, but I’ve never had any concept of time. It should still be up or in their archives if anyone is interested in watching. In Trump’s first year, his Attorney General, had detained/arrested more than 10,000 traffickers. To put that number in a better perspective, the president before him had only had around 300 and some, and I’m sure the one before that had even less. I truly believe the next president we get should take a walk on our reservations. They need to not only see us, but hopefully feel the earth they are walking on. They need to know and hear the stories of our mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, aunts who have all disappeared without anything to lead them back to us. It’s not only our women though, our boys disappearances I’m sure have increased too. It has got to stop. So thank you to all who are helping and to all who had played a role in Yellowstone on or behind the scenes. Chii miigwetch! Thank you very much 💕

We better stop electing aunty and uncle who are family members of the ones who commit some of the atrocities. It's not just outsiders causing the problems.

@@stikupartist3698 An Indigenous person told me this just a few days ago: "There's no such this as 'part-Indigenous.'" There's more to being Indigenous than DNA. Kind of ironic the lead actress is not Native American but Chinese and white (but her mom claims to be 1/16 Cherokee with no proof and no recognition from Cherokee Nation).

I’m a European transport thanks to WW1. My great grandfather worked a coal mine in a small town in PA. His son, my grandfather worked ina coal mine as well. My dad made it to a university. Nothing was handed to them. After watching this show, I wonder how one man can own so much land that never belonged to them. It’s disturbing. I don’t care for the way the family looks like a bunch of drunks but maybe the land needs to go back to the true owners. Just don’t build a casino.

In return to the people who so negatively replied to my comment?!! Please have the decent time to find your facts first, for one thing marrying changes names through time , I have no reason to want anything of your attention, or do I think 🤔 this nesesary to call another person a lier when you have no fact to base your theory!!, sad that such spite is so prevalent in people!!....

Woman actor who thinks the legal system isn’t sufficient to protect the native women…. Your acting on a show that almost villinazes white people coming into your society…. You do know that violence against women in the native communities is from the native cultures… nott to from white people…. AS ARTISTS… your responsibility is to claim you believe in what you act but then not act in a show that contradictes your beliefs…. Because all the concerned native female actresses are concerned in native female lives… yet your acting is all about how the white man is your never ending enemy when if accepting help we could stop the ingraved abuse and disrespect of women that is the real problem, it’s opposite like you portray on tv and I would love to give you the opportunity to apologize for falsely claiming cultural inaccuracies for fame and fortune… this is your one and only chance….
