Shark ATTACKED the Motor! Big Permit in Gulf of Mexico!

In this episode we head in the Gulf of Mexico for some fishing aboard the X3 bay boat. We wind up catching a couple really nice permit but while Sara was fighting a permit a shark attacked the trolling motor! I have heard of this happening before but I have never seen a shark attack a trolling motor in person! We battle a bunch of goliath grouper, catch a few little tripletail, and saw a massive hammerhead shark! Enjoy!

Great video, I know you get to catch and eat the best fish swimming but you have to try the puffers. Puffer fish are really good and easy to clean. I think you'll like them.

The electric field given iff by the motor is of a different frequency. Certain shark shields at right frequency will repel many sharks.

Last yr we were in SD west and north of Watertown on 7 1/2 ft of water through the ice same thing couldn’t believe it one school after another 15 1/2 was the biggest and one walleye 26 inches picture and her live to fight again

On the sub uss sea poacher they used ti take a grenade and wrap butcher cord around a big piece of meat and listen to the sonar to hear them blow up. Huge sharks. This was in Cuba.

Usually a good time to fish for them. I would say call the marina office at 305-664-2461 and they can tell you who’s available

How are those Rhodan trolling motors? Been seeing them more and more. How are they compared to minn kota?

I wasn’t too familiar with any of the brands since I hadn’t used many trolling motors, but we swapped out a minnkota and have been very happy with the Rhodan. Lot of force/thrust and does good in windy and strong current conditions. That’s what some people are putting on their freemans now too.

That hammerhead looks almost as big as a 16 footer circled our 16 foot hobie cat off tybee when we're were catching Spanish mackerel. HE popped his head up3 feet from my hand on the tiller. Scared the he'll out of me.

The guys at Rhodan know me very well. A Bullshark attacked my motor so bad, it snapped the shaft in half, and broke the base. I have 2 other attacks on the motor in 15 years. We need shark control in a bad way. Tarpon season is unbelievably bad.

Why is there so much water on the deck? Are the deck drains not working or possibly clogged? I thought their drains were above the waterline and would drain the water without issue.

Live wells overflowing cuz of the scales from the sandy key pilchards blocking the drain
