Mine was like this since it was new. I always thought this thin just sucked. It would occasionally make steam, It would go for about 5 minutes of nothing but a very tiny bit of steam then it would spurt out hot water for about a minute or less then go back to very little steam. Thank you for this video it was great help. I believe many of these were broken from the factory. My guess is the pump was to stiff to start up and they were not aligned right. 😃THANK YOU😃 this was very helpful.

I suggest that hubby gives you a PAY RAISE . I have fixed plenty of vacuum cleaners which were thrown out. Most of them just had clogged filters or hoses. Garage sale cash is my reward. You went above the call of duty and have the reward of fixing a useful tool. One of my neighbors tossed a Shark S 3550 model so that is my next project. So far, the vinegar process, and dis-assembly will follow if the steamer needs deeper diagnosis. Keep up the achievement list !

This is definitely a manufacturer defect otherwise this wouldn’t be such a consistent problem. I’ve never used mine and this was the issue. Thanks!!!

You are my new hero! I’ve been searching all over for a fix for mine and yes, I just kept getting the “clean the nozzle” ones. I was just about to rip into my shark. I figured if it’s toast maybe I will learn something anyway….. you have probably saved my shark too! Another fix it lady ! Thanks soooo much for making this video!

Yay! The way I see it is that it was already broke, it can't get much "broker"! If you're going to toss it out anyway, might as well give it a whirl first! I hope your fix is as easy as mine! Good luck! :)

Now I’d be happy just to be able to get the darn screws out! They put them in with ‘not to be removed’ in mind!! I will win this battle! 😊

@@allmostroundthebend I used a pretty small Phillips. If I recall, the "standard" #2 Phillips just spun in the screw heads. You can do it! :)

I had exactly the same problem with mine. I contacted shark and they said to put some white vinegar in the tank and leave it to soak for a couple of hours which didn’t seem to work so I added a teaspoon of baking powder to the vinegar and put the stopper back on the tank and switched it on it immediately started working again. I emptied it and added more white vinegar mixed with water this time and operated it got abut 10 minutes before emptying and filling with filtered water. It’s worked fine ever since I hope that helps.

It sounds like your issue was a plugged nozzle or line. Hard water plugs them up. Vinegar IS great for breaking deposits up. Great job!

Mine stopped working around 8 years ago, I couldn’t find a video to help me figure it out so I put it in the shed…and forgot about until today. Anyway, sticking a wire in sprayer nozzle worked for me. It was most probably clogged from using tap water and not distilled water. Anyway, thanks a million, I enjoyed your video. ☺️😊

7:35 Exactly when I was thinking exactly how much mouth I would have to hear from my partner if I took our steamer apart, you said this, which was incredibly encouraging. I am going to go ahead and try this repair. I told him about it just sputtering and not steaming 2 weeks ago and he tried the unclog with pin thing and when that didn't work, he said "I guess you broke it" and gave it back to me.

Aw! Well like I always say, "it can't get any more broken, might as well give it a try!". Technically, I guess it _could_ get more broken but if you're going to toss it out anyway, give it a shot! Lol! You can do it! :) PS: You probably didn't break it in the first place. It seems as though these are kinda built broken. Good luck with it!

I loved your video and it is very useful. I have a different model of Shark steam mop. However, the pump mechanism presented in your video gives a good idea in troubleshooting pump of such steam mops. Keep up the good work. Your video will help to those who are trying to troubleshoot and fix their mops instead of sending them to the Landfill. God bless you for your excellent thinking process in helping others in doing good to the environment. My mop is 5 to 7 years old and the heater assembly was completely rusted. After trying almost all the methods described in KZfaq videos, I failed in all except one drastic step (drilling through the check valve of the heater assembly) at the very end before deciding to throw it away. In the mean time I had to adjust many things (the heat resistant pipe tore off and I started panicking because to replace it I have to spend more time which was not possible as I had already spent several days in trying all the methods described in KZfaq videos. Finally it worked like a new mop. To avoid rusting, from now on, I am going to use distilled water; already started using distilled water and mopped the floors. There was excellent production of steam.

Thank you! Great video. Well explained. I was anxious to see the end result, and almost slipped a few minutes here and there during the video. I kept listening because I didn’t want to miss any bit of useful information. I will definitely try to fix mine ( same situation, same minimal usage) in the winter time, on a bad winter day. I will have your video right next to me. Cheers!

I only wish you had a video on fixing my Dyson ball vacume LOL! That's been broke for over a year I refuse to throw it out it wasn't cheap. And I think that shark should do a recall on that problem it seems to be happening quite a bit. I bet many people have thrown them out over this. Sorry, I talk way too much!! Thanks again!!

I feel your pain! I have a Dyson ball stick vacuum that crapped out about 8 months after I got it. I went to use it one day & it was totally dead. The battery was no good. No indication it was failing the last time I used it. I had to replace the battery. I got it through Dyson & they were actually helpful. I think it was _just_ out of warranty, too. You might try getting a hold of them. Never know! Good luck! :)

THESE SCREWS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET UNSCREWED! 😩
@EndlessDIY
@EndlessDIY Жыл бұрын
You might check the size of the screwdriver you're using. If it's too big they'll be nearly impossible to turn. You may already know this but the "common" Phillips screwdriver is a #2, if I recall, these use a size #1 (smaller).

Thanks so much for the kind words! I get the feeling these are sort of built broken; it seems that everyone has some sort of problem with them. I think it's the minerals in the water that cause them to get clogged but I have no idea what causes the trouble I had. It's still working though! :)

Same thing with my Bissell Steam Shot. Used I think ONE TIME and it doesn’t work. Drips water and doesn’t steam very well. The trigger seems sticky. They offered me a coupon for 20% off a new one 🙄. So, now I’m just going to take it apart and try to fix it.
