TBH I think he gave away his company a bit. Sure they can help him but like he said he did $500k last month and they were going to give him $500k which is a nothing burger. A more fair deal would be 10-15% at max but probably more 10%

He seemed to have a good product and the cultural knowledge to get things sold in his niche market, but he lacked sales and negotiation skills, so his ability to pitch and sell to the sharks was hampered, he put his cards on the table early, never a good sign. He also lacked confidence, which is why they saw the opportunity to pressure him a bit and in turn get him to undervalue his company. End of the day, he is going to profit from the deal, Kevin as your ambassador is the perfect advertising tool for his market, but he could have gotten some perks alongside the offer, possibly a very small royalty on every unit sold, in case he does leave the company to go start another, or a guarantee that Kevin would be the brand ambassador. The company is now worth 4 million, which isn't bad, but the low ball offers definitely brought down their net worth, even if it did boost sales.

With how big his profits were, I dont see why he had to ask for that much money. Yeah I understand you have to come in with a proper valuation of your company, so maybe his starting ask was fine for valuation purposes, but he should've countered at like $250k for 10% or something, the stake is way more valuable than the cash here.

Just a little update. The deal was finally closed in October. This air time has gotten him guest spots on a few other shows. The company now has 128k followers on Instagram and they recently sold over 100k bottle in 48 hours on black Friday and because there are so many orders they just bought a new warehouse. Not too many more updates because this was filmed in like March of this year but it looks like this business is going to be very successful.

This was so wholesome to watch. Most people that keep saying about how they got 20% of such promising company for just 600k...he is not selling 20% of his company for 600k: he is buying connections, market, guidance, MANY things for 600k. That's honestly such a great deal. Edit: Can you imagine one day being a normal person, and the other day having Kevin and Mark, that almost most of the world knows, as your guidance/business partners? Frrrr

Yea some people are just not very bright when it comes to that kind of thing. If you're not really thinking about it, then yea the guy gave up 20% of his company. But what it's really doing is trading 20% to have the expertise (and maybe more importantly, the names) of Mark and Kevin attached to his product and his company. That's not an easy amount of value to calculate, but it's a damn sight more than if he kept 100% of a business being run by a nobody that may or may not maintain it's current level of success over time.

Eh, I have more respect for people with a bit more loyalty or would at least ensure that their existing partners are okay with an exit before exiting the partnership. I get it and can appreciate the economic results of that mentality, but it requires a degree of coldness that can have negative results for the individual and those around them. I suppose it just depends on the results you're looking for.
