I recommend using a kitchen strainer more than a strainer shovel or floating screen because the small shark teeth fall between the large screen mesh while kitchen strainers have smaller size mesh

I was just at Caspersen Beach less than 2 weeks ago. I went in the morning in the middle of the week. I found for the first time ever, about 20 shark teeth (small ones) and some other interesting pieces in about 2 hrs staying in relatively the same area. Kept in mind if you use a kitchen strainer with a handle, the weight of the sand may break the handle or the mesh in the strainer with continual use. Something to keep in mind. There is a place in Venice called Shark Frenzy that sell the floating mesh strainers, the long handled strainers and kiddie type strainers but with long handles and all sorts of cool shark tooth hunting stuff. I had to ask a kid on the beach where people got their shark tooth sifting stuff at. Going back in July 2023 to do some more hunting and see if I get lucky.

Holy Cow, you are an expert at finding these! Did you find any megalodon teeth? I hear those are usually found either in alligator infested rivers or in construction sites.

I have to admit that type sifter is more effective and lighter than my metal detecting scoop that cost $160

I'm even more amazed that I found the best 2 teeth of the day with my bear hands.

You didn’t leave a link to the cabana you bought ,also do you ever use the sifters that have fun noodles on them .?
@professionalweekenders2 жыл бұрын
Here is a link to the newer version of our cabana: www.amazon.com/EasyGo-Cabana-Comfortable-Classier-Umbrella/dp/B07P89V9G2/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=1SW2DROER6JNK&keywords=cool+cabana&qid=1654447126&sprefix=cool+cab%2Caps%2C142&sr=8-4 We have not personally used the floating sifters but plenty of people do. You'll need a shovel to get the most out of that style.

Is there a best time of year to do this?
@professionalweekenders2 жыл бұрын
The teeth can be found year round with relative ease, but I'd say the best time would be after a major summer storm/hurricane when the sands have been mixed up.
