After finding your tutorial on selections to be so brilliantly done, I ordered your complete set on a lot of topics. To explain, I have 1,000 + photoshop videos on a hard drive. These videos are current and I bought them from Matt K., Colin cafe crew, Kelby, F64 Academy, Piximperfect, Photobacks, Jim Nix+...... I buy them, so when it came to purchasing yours I was leary . After testing another video it was a simple choice. Now having been a trainer for a major corporation, I relate with you. lol But I never will buy from a trainer if you have a video available! Being 75 my retention is not good but I have them to watch again. Your mistakes and corrections are by far the Very Best part of the training with your videos! Terrific trainer! TY

I want to express my profound gratitude to you. Because of your Frequency Separation Instructional Course, I am now fully enabled to use Frequency Separation in all of my Photoshop endeavors. Like so many others, I too struggled with Frequency Separation until now. In your course, you stated that users should zoom in at 100% and focus on the large display window rather than the Frequency Separation Preview Window. That one piece of instruction has been the diddfernce maker for me. Furthermore, I realized from you that I can make actions for Frequency Separation with each blur type(Median, Surface, etc.). Thanks so much! Blessings.

your tutorial saved me from a last minute job! explained perfectly, thanks! I have a question: I carry out the work on the frequency separation to remove wrinkles after other adjustments all contained in a group layer. is it possible to do that on a duplicate layer outside of the group with alt+cmd+E and start the frequency separation process? Or it's better to do frequency separation before other editing process? thanks for your support
@SharkPixel
@SharkPixel 7 ай бұрын
All work that you do BEFORE you do the frequency separation layer setup will be "set in stone" and will not be able to be adjusted. So its best to do FS before other adjustments moving forward.

O M G - You totally rock!! Again and again - I cannot tell you how many times, you've saved me in the editing, when things in the shoot didn't really go as planned. I came across you in a Kelby One membership tutorial. And I finally understood the how-to and the quick fixes. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You're amazing skills and teaching/instructions are worth it all!! One short question - what was the difference between 8-bit and 16-bit? I see the actions do two "different" things? Is it "just" the two different ways you show - one with the mixer-brush (more in control with details, also good with skin) and the other with the layer and masking the wrinkles away (love this one). I am just really new to the 8 vs. 16 bit terminology :D :D
@SharkPixel
@SharkPixel 2 жыл бұрын
It totally makes my day to get comments like this. Im so thrilled you are learning from my teaching style! 8-bit and 16-bit have to do with how many colors can be stored in an image. An 8-bit image can hold 16,000,000 colors, whereas a 16-bit image can hold 28,000,000,000. So the frequency separation action needs to be 'calculated' differently depending on the size of the color space. Whichever way you choose to blur the color and tone is not dependent on the color bits. Hope this helps!!!!!

That's a bug in the mixer brush. Try hitting command+Z and try again, after the first stroke it stops doing it. If it continues, you have "Load color swatch" on your top menu activated, turn it off and it will stop doing this.

Danielle, The mixer brush is a tool that comes with all versions of Photoshop. Are you using Photoshop Elements by chance? Or regular photoshop?

try clicking off of the texture layer and selecting the blur layer. Or you can download the action too. :)

You can hardly see what you are selecting because your screen's menu of PS is tiny. Why not enlarge your selections or highlight them in color like some other tutorials. I can't watch this because of the scale!
@SharkPixel

I recorded it in high definition, so you can watch it on a large screen up to 1440p. Its a super helpful tutorial if you choose to watch it. This technique has changed many lives. I also zoom into menu items frequently so you can see a larger view of them.

frequency sep is one of the HARDEST topics to grasp. I avoided it for 15 years. Keep at it, it'll change the way you edit every photo once it clicks for you.

You should've explained it in a step 1 and a step 2 sort of way until final step and boom wrinkles gone instead of talking about the science of how it works, that's what makes people attention span shoot somewhere else far from this video because the reality no one cares about the science about how you're doing it, they just need to see the actions get done in the most simplistic way possible, the best actions are the ones that all you have to do is press the button and its done, your video is very confusing and again should've been explained in a step 1 and a step 2 sort of way until final step and boom wrinkles gone and video done smh.

You’re completely entitled to your opinion. And it sounds like I’m not the right instructor for you. After 20 years of photoshop education and sales, and over a million YT video views, I choose to teach in a specific way that always explains the “why” behind the process. But thankfully for you, there are millions of instructors who teach the way you’re describing. I just happen not to be one of them.
