Waste of time People are so busy with their lives that they don't give a shit about environment If you are really concerned then even if you do the following 1)Avoid non Veg 2)Save water 3)Take public transport 4)plant trees 5)carry cloth bag with you while you go for shopping 6)recycle and reuse That's also more than enough if people collectively do it Instead of printing new ncert books each year If school just collect the books from old students and pass it to new students then also millions of trees would be saved

Yeah, which is why I liked what that one judge had to say about these being fundamental behaviors that would require a lot more than awareness to change. Carbon footprint is disinformation manufactured by oil companies like BP to absolve themselves of all blame, and shift all pressure onto individuals who are largely not culpable. These numbers that her app tracks are easy to get desensitized to, and would be pointless without context. If instead her app provided a comparison of sorts that showed how multibillion dollar companies like BP, Shell, Adani Group, etc., are contributing way more to climate change vs. the average individual, that could mobilize them to take action. The app could also provide resources to lobby, rally, petition, etc. We need changes at the policy level. The average person simply does not care about climate change or their carbon footprint. For as long as it is a matter of convenience, most people will buy from SHEIN, not take public transport, use plastics, etc. What you really need here is incentive to make these massive life-changing decisions, and that is missing when it doesn't come with a serious reward or cost. It is true that consumption patterns are what put these polluting companies in business, but simply asking people to boycott, when it doesn't come with a serious and obvious risk to their lifestyle, is wholly impractical. These behavioral changes can only be brought about by subconscious psychological, structural and legal maneuvers.

Can offer reward points per KG of Carbon footprint reduced which can be redeemable against products made from sustainable materials and environment conscious brands. The points can be used as Cred coins or Flipkart tokens so that the discounts offered by the brands can be written off as marketing expenditure. The app can cut a small commission on the transaction. They can also connect consumers with vendors for sustainable products such as Solar panels, solar water heaters, EVs etc. She seems more like an activist than an entrepreneur. So bringing in a business oriented co founder would help her business grow at a sustainable pace and bring out actual change. Influencer marketing to make it an achievement for reaching the leaderboards at a community level will encourage the users too. I hope she succeeds!

Also if there is a mass adoption of this application, this credits could be converted into carbon credits which then can be traded with high carbon emission companies like oil, mining, etc, while making sure there is no double counting and frauds, which could be easily eliminated by trading this credits with blockchain technology. It's huge market in US and EU.

Excalty my point everyone in the tank talking about saving x amount of carbon footprint whilst doing it so they are producing Y amount of carbon footprint. They are delusional, as if they do it's alright but we'll make everyone else follow. While Anupam drives lamborghini it's alright but you should take public transport, same goes to other sharks as well. It's all a gimmick what they want to sell as per thier image and convince.

@@alexnova6239 its more of manipulating business, it wil be short term profit gain exercise for all investors founders and orgnizations which link with them. ex. if i am employee of TCS and if TCS use this app, they will give me target(within my team, also may not be compulsion) but as part of gamification, few employees may complete the challenges later agreegated cardbon credits will be calculated and used for publicity to show how environment sustainable growth mindset cultured within organization. now this credit will be used for shopping, making money or what not (if sustainable eco system developed) now coming to main point, this idea is not something patented, compititors can grow quickly. every big MNC company has enough resources to create such module/app in day as scope of idea is less (just calculator unelss linked to business outlook).. so dont see big value in this.

Azhar and anupam said it absolutely right. This is a fundamental change which is very difficult for a person moreover it is in a pre revenue. Bringing a change in environment and business profits are totally different things. Talking softly and politely may attract people to some extent but to be frank this is an incore fundamental change which is almost impractical for lot of people.

Unfortunately people with real knowledge on sustainability have some reservations of the impact and stay back before making a move which can bring an impact And people like her without much understanding of bigger picture like what she is doing I hope this initiative is well guided by experts and just doesn’t become a corporate ESG tool that masks actual carbon footprint to tick the boxes

I agree with Azhar's point of view. Bringing behavioral change is important but what is more important is working on those aspects which actually are the reasons for climate change.
