The absolute lowest point in Eastenders history. Sharon trying to kill her oldest mate over the death of her son with the help of the man who actually killed him. All Ian did was punish a brat by locking him up for a bit. As soon as he noticed the boat was sinking he did everything he could to rescue Denny. He did nothing wrong yet Sharon and the writers made out like it was all Ian's fault.

People seem to forget Ian's reason for locking Denny up in that room in the first place. He had just found out that Denny had been both abusive and racist towards his son Bobby - that was never addressed. Even now, whenever Sharon had as tear in her eye about Denny and starts spouting what a good boy her was, I'm the first to shout back at the TV "no, he was a vile little brat".

Yeah the writing during this 2020 to mid 2022 era was bleak and dire. Chris Clenshaw has been a god send as a writer for EastEnders right now as you can tell he is putting things right slowly but surely and he has a genuine care about the soap.

@SayberV1 Yes he's definitely an old school eastenders fan and is bringing back that feel to the show. It's amazing how much mess he's fixed since he took over. The show is now regaining mass attention again

What a mess. How did they ever allow this story go to air? Phil takes absolutely no responsibility or accountability for his role in Denny's death, and I had forgotten how hard he was pushing Sharon to go through with this ridiculous plan to kill Ian. It is so important that these events are addressed when Ian returns, and that Sharon recognises it wasn't Ian at fault.

I was just thinking that! I am hoping that Ian has a long speech in front of Phil, Sharon, Keanu, Ben, Bobby and Cindy talking about how her son wouldn't have died if Phil and Keanu hadn't sunk the boat and how after they tried murdering him, Sharon's now marrying Keanu and being best friends with Phil. Maybe he can reveal he tried saving him even after realising he had been bullying his son.

Not really, at this point Phil was like “I can’t do that, he’s got kids” which prompted Sharon to do it, Phil only did it when Sharon had second thoughts.

Clever compilation from Eastenders as nobody seems to have realised the importance of it. Cindy attempted to kill Ian 25 years ago and ended up in the wildness in witness protection. Sharon does it and Ian walks away letting her get on with her life. How much has Ian told Cindy about this?

That would be the Wegovy ( semaglutide ) injections, she will need ( or maybe already has had ) a face lift as wegovy tends to drop wieght off very quickly and the face is unable to keep up and you end up with loose skin ( much like someone 30 stone plus loses a wieght down to 16 stone they have literally 2 stone of loose skin that takes a very very long time to shrink without corrective surgery. sorry kinda rambled there lol yes its incredible but she did have help lol

Can I ask what your thoughts are about this storyline? I think the acting was stellar, but Tina of all people and doing a runner when she's innocent (who does that?!), Phill taking the moral ground when he crashes the boat in the first place are a few examples..

I wouldn’t say back to its best but much better than the ridiculously long gray atkins storyline and this one. A very good era to look back on is the 2008-2012 that’s on iplayer.

Dennis died because of Phil and Keanu fighting and causing the boat to sink. Ian put that little shit in timeout because of his islamophobic posts leading to Bobby Getting his head kicked in. Ian almost died trying to free Dennis. Ian didn’t do anything wrong

Call me crazy, but Ian was not to blame whatsoever for Dennis’ death. 1: He locked him in the room to sober him up until the party ended. Sharon probably would have done the same. 2: Was he supposed to have some kind of psychic premonition where he saw Phil and Keanu crash the boat? 3: He was the only one who tried to help Dennis but the boat flooded. So all in all, I have no idea why the writers decided to turn Sharon into some malignant psychopath.

Because of her precious little Denny's voicenote stating Ian had locked him in a room on the boat and he couldnt get out so she holds him responsible for him drowning. She didnt know SquealBeale tried to save him as he kept all of what happened a secret. Dotty exposed him ( i cant really remember if he did try and save him or not lol i stopped watching it years ago but i am sure he lost his bottle and didnt try and help as much as he claims lol )
