big thanks on this video. i was always breaking the pencils when trying to sharpen with a blade. I think the big thing i learned in this video is not to move the hand that holds the blade. And that makes sense.

FYI and to help with your teaching explanation, when sharpening the pencil, the type of cut you are performing is a "push cut". It is used often in spoon carving.

I didnt have problem with sharpening pencil but once i decided its a smart thing to scrape some old nail polish with a razor blade and long story short i gauged it into the nail bed it hurted like a b**ch even tho the cut was tiny
@matthewzenkiemendoza34152 жыл бұрын
careful that happened to me i was sharpening an charcol pencil i was a begginer so my thumb was pressing on the back of the blade and i cut my thumb so be caeful when sharpening theres more to worry than just getting the charcoal tip broken you can get injured

I'm new to charcoal renderings so I purchased nitram starter set...the extender doesn't hold the charcoal enclosed...Nitram does packaging well. So I would forgo that sander and use common plasters' sanding product...it's sandpaper on a mesh so you can save the charcoal Powder for the art work.
@johnnycorcoran74893 жыл бұрын
Hi did you normal brushes those sandpaper off? Cos the charcoal are so soft and end up the sandpaper are very smooth!

Sir what's inside the charcoal pencil in the casing. On the brand "Generals", there's a plastic inside the lead. I thought I sharpen it wrong. Does all charcoal pencil have this kind of feature? I've been using charcoal pencil for the first and I love the effect on the tone. It's just like using a black color pencil and black pencils with 6b or 8b grades 😁❣️👍🍩☕😄🎱

I sharpen my colored pencils with a blade, pastel pencils, wc pencils and have trouble of all things with the Derwent 24 color charcoal pencils. They can't be bought seperately so I can't expose gobs of charcoal it just breaks so I am careful. With willow sticks and so forth or shades of darker/lighter values I feel that is more important to use the length. And I sharpen mine to relax too. Funny.
