Anna was a strong and determined athlete who had completed six marathons by the time of her spinal injury. Told she would never walk again, she commits to finding the will to live her life again.
Rehabilitation therapists at Sharp HealthCare in San Diego teach Anna how to maneuver a wheelchair and drive with hand controls. After mastering a hand cycle, Anna competes in the San Diego Rock ‘n Roll Marathon - finishing in less than three hours.

What an amazing story. The fact that someone can go through something like that and come out of it with that big, beautiful smile and drive is incredible. I hope she's doing well today. Such an inspiration. ❤️

Hello girl, No idea if you will ever read this comment, but I just want to say how proud I am for your power and will to push on. You are a great inspiration for other humans. Paralysed is awful ofcourse, but your smile keeps sending positivity to everyone. God bless you and your amazing loving family. Big hug and much love from Dutchieland❤️

You were the lucky one who got supported nd had this facility of rehabilitation in your country. M also a physician suffering from spinal cord injury. Don't have control over my bowl nd bladder. I think only the sufferer can feel the pain of loosing body part or the part which is not moving. 😢😢

I've been injured nearly 3 years now and it never gets easier. I was told I'd never walk again but beat the odds and walked on crutches after 6 months. I still have to use crutches and likely always will but i am grateful for my life and what SCI has taught me.

@@jehntorres6339 don’t give up, just do all of the shitty exercises they tell you to! I was told that I likely wouldn’t walk and definitely wouldn’t rock climb again..but I did both and even climbed harder than before. It’s ten years next year for me and my goal is to get back to wakeboarding and to jump the wake. I can’t feel my right foot and not all my muscles work properly, but I’ve done way more than I thought that I could. So just grit your teeth, try to be patient and do it 😀

These docos always focus on really positive outcomes, but it's not everyone's journey. Please reach out for help, I don't know how I would cope 😢 with losing an arm either. But I do know that losing an arm is a major life altering experience and to struggle with it is completely normal and it is not something that you can do alone. Get help, keep searching for the best help for you sometimes that's an arduous process. Find your tribe ❤❤❤❤❤ Sending you best wishes from Australia ❤❤❤

@@christttmasssholidddayyys497 ok, i'll copy what I answered to another comment, who thought it's the worst: "No. I have C5 Asia A for 10 years. I watched my mother die from cancer before my injury. Even with C5 i'll NEVER consider that it's the worst." Also, this thought that "SCI is the worst" is very harmfull to SCI people, to people who are actually dieing or suffering from some disease AND to healthy people aswell.
