Okay so I waited till after I finished binge watching the entire Sharpie series to post my thoughts. In short, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! From the first basic video to this very last one, my mind was blown away. Not only at the creativity but also at how simple it is to get great looking art with sharpie markers. I've always had an affinity towards permanent markers since elementary school and now, since I've started making tattoo designs again, I've been using them a lot more. In fact, it was curiosity on how to make coloring in my art look better than 'flat' with my markers that lead me to you. I'm going to take a look around the rest of your channel for more ideas and techniques as well as your site. I also have a few purchases to make, I need to up my color arsenal ten-fold now. Luckily you posted links to the paper and both sets of markers. I have them saved on a list for my next paycheck. The kids where I work are going to go nuts when I show them how to level up their coloring skills. One of the best series I've ever had the pleasure of watching and I love the Intro theme as well, it kept inspiring me to make a full orchestral track with it. Tell your son, he's a genius as well. Keep up the amazing content, CHEERS!!!

I was ready to throw my Sharpies in the trash can, because they chewed up whatever paper I used them on. Then tonight I found this video! My Sharpies are rescued! This looks like fun!! Thanks! I’m going to try it first on the Flower Bliss book I have, in mixed media paper. I am a new adult colorer, and I have learned so much from your videos. I use coloring to deal with chronic pain and anxiety. It has really helped me to cope. So, thank you Jennifer and Steve!

Tha k you for getting to the point..I am had been searching for some ideas with my markers..I hsve been coloring for a while with sharpie and gel and needed some ideas....all my pages kind of look the same because I use the same old basic technique. Anyway most videos have not given me any inspiration...lots of talking and not a lot of coloring...and the ideas are not shown from start to finish...lots of cuts which make me wonder what they did to get the effect...you show everything start to finish and you don't talk for 20 minutes with useless info wasting my time, you fo straight into the coloring and your explaining is very clear and answer all the questions in my head as you go .so I subscribed here and look forward to watching your other videos. Other KZfaq people making coloring videos need to take some tips from you..thank you for inspiring me to get the coloring books out..that's just what I needed.

I'm going to try it soon and the really great thing is I don't have to go out and buy anything! Yay! Love the Sharpie Secrets series. I'll be trying all these techniques. Thank you, Jennifer!

Jennifer, I just viewed all 7 lessons and happily had the same 2 sets of Sharpie markers so I could match your ideas. I also have a 10 pack of Crayola markers so I tried lesson 6 with them also. Just a quick note. The higher percentage alcohol would be better to get only for the fact that it would have less water in it. The other 30 percent in the 70 percent ipa will remain in your sharpie and keep collecting as you go. Im not sure if water in your sharpie will damage it but it will make your ink dry much slower if you get enough in it? If you can get a bottle of everclear, or another high proof alcohol for this purpose, it will dramatically decrease the retention of water in your marker as everclear has only a 1 to maybe 4 percent water content depending on if it has been sitting around open or not. If youre feeling brave there are other solvents you could try as well. Be careful with the chosen solvent. Some are very nasty and dangerous to breath in like benzene and could potentially ruin the marker if it breaks the ink down or the nib. Trying new things is a staple in art though so have fun whatever you do!

It's a shame Sharpies, Bics (and likely other alcohol-based markers, including the much-coveted Copics) are not archival and lightfast. They fade and discolor. Google it. It broke my heart to learn it! If you're using them for your art, be prepared to scan your pieces and have prints made if you want them to last.
