i remember coming across this song after a few years and i couldn't help but think it would be perfect for lyra & marisa ; i kept on having this scene from book in my mind -- how marisa cries after lyra to not leave her & lyra crying when running away - i was so depressed we didn't get to see that in episode two. but it suits the three of them nevertheless. this chaos family will keep on shattering my heart till the end of days.
i hope you'll enjoy it ! all experienced pain i blame on pullman for creating those amazing characters and their complicated dynamics.

Lyra will never know the way her mother and father transformed and their sacrifice for her. Neither were 'good', sure, but they were the best they could be in that moment and admitted their mistakes. No one could have played a better Mrs Colter.

It’s crazy because in the end I cried for Mrs. Coulter, and I spent most of the show disliking her. She was such a complicated person

The ending of asriel and marissa was soul crushing! Neither were close to being good parents, both of them extremes on a spectrum but they went out in the most noble way possible- for lyra. She was the balance for both of them. She didn't come from nothing, she truly was the product of two very extraordinary people. Asriel did what he set out to do, even if he didn't do it the most noble ways. They did the ultimate sacrifice in the end for lyra and the sake of the world, knowing their souls will fall into oblivion, their own daughter not knowing their sacrifice and how deep their love for her really went. It was both an act of love but also penance and redemption. It was truly fate, written in the stars that this would be the destiny of asriel and marissa. Love both of their characters so much, with all their imperfections. James and Ruth did a phenomenal job. Their performances won't be leaving my mind any soon! Forgive the mini essay! haha

Oh God, I'm still crying over that ending! I was hoping for reconciliation, at least a hug. I hope that the author, with the new trilogy he's releasing, includes some reference to them or their reappearance. I can't accept that their ending is simply ceasing to exist.
