It's always nice to see someone perceptive enough to pick up on a lot of the callbacks. The Cornetto Trilogy has enough brick jokes to build a fortress.

The dvd came w: a subtitle option that noted references easter eggs and callbacks, a making of, and a video diary of nick and simon on a viewing tour in the states ("Eddie Vedderrrrrrrrr" 🤣.) The special features single handedly changed the way I watch movies. Great reaction

@@MrValentineReacts his stand up "monster" is his first recorded and my personal favourite. He also wrote and stars in a surreal sitcom called black books, about a frustrated antisocial book shop owner. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost both appear in small roles.

I too found Philip’s final moments effective. His performance gave this very broad film an even broader range.

You have to do Hot Fuzz. I love this movie so much but that one is probably my favorite of the two. It’s a must if you loved this one.

Great to see you've started with the first movie of The Cornetto Trilogy. Fun fact: the scene where he jumps over the fences is a nod to the opening sequence in Police Academy.

If you dig the Cornetto Trilogy, I would recommend checking out Spaced. It was a sitcom that ran for two seasons in England directed by Edgar Wright and written & starred in by Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes (who plays Shaun’s friend Yvonne in this movie). So many of Wright’s motifs came from there.

"[about Ed] He's not my boyfriend!" "[handing beer to Shaun] It might be a bit warm, the cooler's off." "Thanks, babe. [winks at Ed]" Fun Fact: George A. Romero, creator of the movies to which this movie pays homage and lampoons, was so impressed with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's work that he asked them to cameo in Land Of The Dead (2005) as zombies. Spaced Background Fact: Many of the zombie extras are fans of Spaced (1999), which also starred Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and was also directed by Edgar Wright. They were recruited through the Spaced Out fan website. All of the newsreaders and television presenters are real people portraying themselves. Multiverse Sequel Fact: Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright considered a sequel that would replace zombies with another monster, but decided against it, as they were pleased with this movie as a stand-alone product, and thought too many characters died to continue the story. The proposed title idea "From Dusk Till Shaun" did have an afterlife as a mocked up poster that can be seen in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018).

I think the second one (Hot Fuzz) is just as good too. The third one (The World's End) is a little more melancholy and so took some criticism, but I think it's still up at the same level.

@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerek World's End has such a depth of tone shift from the first two, it can be emotionally exhausting to watch, I think the supreme level of comedy writing makes the emotional narrative in the story easier to digest

Fun Facts: ramero him self missed the "we're coming to get you barbra" line, which is an almost word for word quote from night of the living dead. a bunch of famous comics/comic actors are zombies along with a few other celebrites, 2 members of coldplay for example, are also zombies. I think you would love the movie su!c!de kings, its my favorite christopher walken movie ever, the title is a bit misleading/not literal. its more of, they messed up so bad they basically did what the title implies.
