@@marlowe78 hi there. I use to work at the electricity board in waterloo road uxbridge, just around the corner from rockingham road. One lunchtime, while nopping out for abige to eat at the nearby shopping precinct, I thought I was going crazy when a Dalek chase me all round the precinct. It is only tonight I realised the thi gs were made (born?) in Rockingham road. But its a weird feeling being chased by one isn't it!

Thanks for this. Part of the wonder of Dr.Who was down to the amazing inventiveness of those behind the scenes on the show & in this case doing outsourced work for it. A lot of children & adults have wonderful memories of the program thanks to them, myself included. If you do not mind, I will add to my page for others to enjoy. :)

Fantastic bit of history. That said, I shudder watching people making the Dalek hemispheres from fibreglass without PPE. Not even gloves. If nothing else, that stuff will make you itch like crazy.

That was literally 2 streets down from where I lived. We actually saw a Dalek once, being carried down the stairs from that unit they are working in. I guess it was before the days they could levitate 😆😆

Thanks so much for this, I have 3 Ford Models fro 1961 made by Shawcraft and at one time had a silver Corsair one, it could be the one shown in the film but I doubt it.

If you purchase the Dr Who dvd 'The Chase' there is another extra programme, explaining all that Shawcraft did, and how they came to end.I thoroughly recommend you watch that.

Sadly it is true, with cgi, many things that previously would have been made as a model now only appear as pixels

I would have given much to do stuff like that...

First seen in a Doctor Who series set in 1965 when the Daleks invaded Earth. That was when Carol Ann Ford who played the part of Susan, left the series in the final scene.
