Haha I used to go to the same gymnastics center in west Des Moines. It was called Chows and she used to come by and practice and stuff. And I also ran into her at costco and we used to live in the same neighborhood. lol on Halloween the whole neighborhood would be lined up in front of her house

To give some perspective on the commentator's comments and how little they sometimes know at the time ... I was watching Shawn's channel and she was talking about that exact clip, what she was thinking, and how her warm up had gone. She explained her coach had intentionally burnt her out with 8x the warm-up routines with the intention of getting her out of her head so that when she got out on the beam she only moved on adrenaline and memory. She said up til then she kept messing up because of nerves and overthinking her steps. The strategy worked. So messing up in practice had nothing to do with being off her game. The irony is that she said it wasn't even her best routine, but it was enough to beat the competition.

…Best female Beamer ever…full of humility and adorable,..no one can see or touch her…or even come close to her on that beam…she should’ve won the all around…imo…she was robbed…🤗❤️🌹

@QueenieQue If not bars the problem was in the E panel judging (as it is today) is that performances with high SVs (esp. bars, beam) are judged with more leniency, really the only provable explanation how Liukin got her bars execution into the 9's for most of the games. I'm not surprised though, that people never talk about all the form deductions she has especially on bars and floor. Even Shawn gets credited for 180 splits on beam because of her SV. If not that then reputation and country...

@QueenieQue I can't really argued with what happened with the scoring system then because I think she deserved to win considering what actually happened as she didn't make any real mistakes, if there was one competition I wasn't happy with much at all it was the 2004 WAG floor EF, Romanians were definitely upheld as far as E panel judging but they were creepily consistent and completed their jumps and just performed on the day, but Ponor and Sofronie's triple spins were definitely incomplete.
