I love the sonic and structural adventurousness of this track. I've always liked Shawn and considered him a solid artist. But it's tracks like these on his new record which shows how much he wants to evolve as an artist. He stretches himself without losing the terrific songwriting abilities he has. Excellent track. I remember that he mentioned in an interview how he sometimes has to cancel concerts, and can only come back to the country or city years later, but people still show up and give him a huge amount of love. I believe that this is what the part “I know that we went late” could mean as well.

When Shawn said “you’ll never be alone” years ago he could’ve meant someone else but I think he also meant himself he was telling himself you’ll never be alone and now five years later he looks at where he is now and how happy he is now and he says to his old self yeah I’ll never be alone
