He’s dating and Camila for more a year now and been best friends for almost 7yrs. Almost all his song in his self titled album Shawn Mendes is about Camila. You should probably listen to Camilas album romance to know they’re story. 😊

Shawn's goal since the beginning was to write music as well as perform it, and the funny thing is he didn't even write "Stitches" which was one of his first big hits when he started out. The music he wrote for this album, was mostly about longing for the girl he let get away and desperately wanted her back, which is Camila Cabello. Their duet "Senorita" is what helped him win over and they've been a couple ever since.

The album doesn't really tell a story but some songs do follow a storyline (Why, When You're Ready, Because I Had You, If I Can't Have You & Señorita) he has confirmed these to be about the same girl, which happens to be the one he's dating now😂 He's dating Camila Cabello and she's been the inspiration for some of these songs, but at the time he wrote them they weren't dating, they were just friends, and if fact they had been friends (with feelings for eachother) for years.

As others have said most all of his songs are about camila, his longtime bestfriend like 6 years. They had something more but never dated officially in the past until 2019. Hey, really have been enjoying these reactions of his work! While I was watching I thought of some points that might be interesting for both you or anyone who doesn't know a lot about Shawn. Firstly, the deluxe album came out a year after the original was released. it contained Senorita and If I can't have you which were singles that he released in may and june 2019. Also the reason Stitches isn't all that songwrity is because it's one of the only 2 songs that he did not take a part of writing. His first album has amazing songwriting despite him writing it at only the age of 15-16 years old. Now for the backstory. Shawn has confirmed that most of this album was written for a girl that he had considered his best friend for almost 5 years and relationship rumours have been flowing the whole time. That girl is Camila Cabello. They have 2 songs together, senorita and I know what you did last summer. Their fans have noticed indirects in their songs but mostly on this album and Camila's 2nd album Romance. In 2019 they decided to collaborate again shortly after IICHY (which was about her btw) and a month after senorita, they started dating (finally!!). They really have a special bond and you can hear it in their songs before they even started to date. In his next album, Wonder, he has said that most of the songs will of course be about her or in some way influenced by her (like wonder was). I recommend you to of course listen to more of his music and also he has a document coming out on oct. 23rd on Netflix and the trailer is out now. I loved your reaction! Your analysis on pretty much all the songs was spot on. However, In My Blood is not a love song. Is actually about his struggles with anxiety, which he developed about a year or 2 before releasing this album due to the increasing fame and pressure he was going through. It was the lead single of the album and he considered it to be the most important and meaningful song on the album. Its was nominated for best songwriting for the 2019 Grammys, and the album was also nominated for best pop album that year - these were his first Grammy nominations. I'm excited for more reactions on Shawn, especially for Wonder!

Shawn said in a q&a from his tour how he had written Why to admit his feeling to Camila (before they started dating). He was gonna send it to her but his co-writers said to show her in person only for her to call him saying she met a guy 😩

If you want to follow their story listen to All These Years off Camila's debut solo album which came out before this album. His most recent song connected to their relationship was his collab/duet with Taylor Swift called Lover Remix. That song contains the first lyrics he wrote for Camila when they were starting out their relationship. In conclusion he's Deeply in love with her and I can't wait to hear more of their story on his upcoming album, Wonder.

I think the only deluxe songs were If I Can't Have You and Senorita, which were added just over a year after the initial album release. Both were huge singles, as well as the singles from the initial album, which might be why you knew so many of the songs already

So senorita and if I can’t have you came out in 2019 while the album came out in 2018 but they decided to just put them on the album and call it the deluxe album so that’s why you heard so many songs at the beginning because two of them came out a year later
