Country music has a way of telling our life stories. Trace is really good at this story telling. I'm 56 years old, retired and living in Texas now. I have three grown daughters with families of their own now. My wife and I just returned home from 4 days at Disneyland with two of our daughters and four of our grandkids. My mind often wanders back over the years! The lyrics where the old plumber is telling the young mom captured in the midst of chaos with toddlers that she's going to miss these days rings so true! I'd give anything to be woken up in the middle of the day after working all night by the shrill screams of my 3 girls laughing and playing with their mom! It used to annoy me and now all I can think is that I was such a fool for not getting out of bed every single time to go join in on the laughter!

Time always flies by, faster than you realize in the moment. I'm up in Canada, I'm turning 45 tomorrow with two kids. I'm also living in a longterm care center due to a very aggressive illness. One thing I learned long ago is you've got to take your time, enjoy every minute for what it is, and love your loved ones hard! Because you will miss those times that seemed so difficult. Love them hard.

This song always touches my heart and brings a tear to my eye. My baby is 35 and wow did it all go by so fast!!! When she graduated from college I moved to a small town about an hour away from where we lived. She decided to move with me. While living there she never gave me an indication of liking or disliking it. Shortly after she got married I left that house. Not that long ago she told me how much she loved living there and how much she missed that house. Totally took me by surprise!

Trace Adkins is a very kind and generous person who just this past weekend gave a free concert in our Tornado stricken town of Mayfield Ky which was devastated and destroyed on December 10, 2021. an EF4 tornado left 24 people dead and at least 200 people injured in Graves County Kentucky, according to the National Weather Service. Trace stopped here to help raise money and bring awareness as our people work and struggle to rebuild, on his " Somewhere in America Tour". Yes were gonna miss this but we will rise up better than ever.

Hi Shawn and Mel, this song always gets to me too every time I hear it. I don't have children of my own but I helped to raise three of my nieces. One is 36, the other 20 and the baby 17. They are all three at the various stage of this song. I love them so. When the oldest left and went out into the world it was so hard for my husband I, seeing her excitement yet all the while knowing that it was going to be so much harder than she could imagine. She is a "I have to put my hand on stove and burn it before I believe you that its hot" and a "leap before she looks " kind of girl. We just kept loving her and kept pointing her toward her dreams. She is a now a talented artist with her own thriving business and is married with a young toddler. She amazes me how she navigates through her world and I am so proud of her. How I long for those days though when it was just the two of us, staying up to midnight laughing and watching old movies and she was unencumbered by life. But I wouldn't change it either. Although sometimes I look at the woman is now: someone's mother and wife and I miss the girl she was when she was "our girl."

Love this reaction guys. Got a almost 4 year old. He loves when me and him sing to songs in the car. He even gets mad when me and his mom are talking during a song. She always told me about getting sad when she thinks about him getting older, and I never understood, until the other day when I realized there will be a day that he won’t want me to sing with him anymore. We just moved my oldest daughter 1300 miles away from home. She has a great job and is happy as a pig in mud . The thing is I am a 6ft 3in 250lb Alabama Country boy and I cry all the time thinking of her. Hold them an love them while you can parents !

This was years ago, taking our daughter to college only 3 1/2 hours away, as wemwere leaving she said this to us. "I don't want you to call me for a month! I have to learn to do it by myself"! My little girls are still close by and I see them often. The ones that make me fall apart are the ones that are gone now. Grandparents, parents, brother and sisters. I'm the last one. Miss them every day.

I'm 21 (about to turn 22 on March 30th) and I've been out of school for about 3 1/2 years now and I still miss and I wish those days hadn't gone by so fast... I wish I could wake up at 6 a.m. tomorrow and go to school and see my friends and play in the band as well as do a couple of other things again or that I never got to do at all...but then I'm gonna wake up tomorrow and realize that I don't have to go to school anymore and days are just gonna be one giant question mark of what I'm going to do... I'll be starting college soon so I guess I'll have that to look forward to but it'll be online...
