Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZfaq, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZfaq. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZfaq, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.

Growing up in the 70s there was acid called purple haze. Great song.☮️ Love the guitar riff, you don't see many left handed guitar players. 🎸

Oooyea... I remember a veery strange night with friends on a tiny island in a lake, floating around in the moonlight. "Sunshine Explosion" were too heavy for me, never touched any psychics since, and the tiny island is still more beautiful without!

Late 60's, early 70's we always associated the song Purple Haze with the LSD of the same name. Made sense to us.

Around the time there was another one called "Orange Sunshine". But it's not like there were authorized dealers, so you didn't know what you were getting, except the color. I don't think it really mattered much.

By the time I got into Jimi, he was long gone (R.I.P.) but this is a man that redefined what playing a guitar was. He was a bada$$ trailblazer. Unmatched in many ways but there was never another lead guitarist that was not influenced or was in awe themselves as to what this man laid down and when he did it.

There was an LSD brand called "Purple Haze" (by Owsley), but actually the song was mainly influenced by Science Fiction author Philip José Farmer "The Night of Light", a pretty psychedelic story in itself. Jimi was a big sf fan and always wanted to write a science fiction novel. By the way, I saw the man live in 1969.

Shawn, there was a pioneering band during the 'British Invasion' period of the mid-'60s called the Dave Clark Five. They knocked the Beatles' smash hit, "I Want to Hold Your Hand", out of the top chart position in the UK and they charted 17 top-40 singles in the US between 1964 and 1967! Yet, to the best of my knowledge, no music reactor has covered any of those songs. You are my favorite reactor so I want you to be first - the others will follow. Even though it isn't the most downloaded of their songs on Spotify, I know you'll appreciate the rocking beat of "Over and Over" For something more chill, "Because" is dope! Can I get some backup on this request, all you Boomers?

Purple Haze LSD was named after this song, but the original name of the LSD had Purple in its name, after which the history of the drug and the name of the song became intertwined in music history. I think Jimi was singing about a woman, but he also did a lot of LSD, so... ❤✌

My guess he that he was told to distance himself from the drug reference, and so the story kept changing. Purple Haze was a popular form of LSD at that time. Beatles also had to skirt around the issue. Jimi was an avatar. A different model for humanity. All races put together into an advanced creative visionary being, taken sadly too soon. Thanks for sharing him.

Great info love the research at the end. Have you done 1983 from Electric Ladyland? Highly recommend doing rainynday dream away - 1983 - moon turn the tides- still raining still dreaming all together. It's like one concept from start to finish about a rainy day. Jimi dozes off, has his dream, wakes up back to reality after making it down to Atlantis. Really epic tracks!!!

I don't remember having any big discussions about the meanings of these songs. But it shows these younger intrepid musical explorers are paying close attention. Maybe the generic music produced by today's commercial sausage factories is not intended to require much attention and this genre rock music does. Purple Haze was known to us as Purple Micro-Dot.

IN my day, when this was recorded, Purple haze was a name for a kind of LSD, not that it was regulated by the FDA or anything, I did some what was reputedly Purple Haze. Fortunately, I am alive to tell the story.

Back in the 60s LSD was the thing to do if you wanted to experience the depth of your mind (taking a trip)! Purple Haze was the name of the LSD that Jimi was into. Before going on stage Jimi would place a hit of Purple Haze between his bandana and his temple and trip while performing.

Jimi's TRUE ticket to musical immortality is his performance of "Machine Gun" in the early hours of January 1, 1970 in New York City. You MUST MUST MUST hear it. The poor guy had twisted people around who wanted to slip him acid because of his mythical tripster reputation. One time he got “dosed” heavily and walked off the stage not far into the show as the powerful acid took hold.

Jimi Hendrix played his guitar upside down because he was left-handed and couldn't find a left-handed guitar. He refused to learn with his right hand and instead innovated by using a regular right-handed guitar and flipping it over.
