i loved skz's album packaging, i just wished they added a magnet where you open it cause the cover doesn't stay in place when you display it unless you have a bookend or something heavy to keep it still

i agree with the huge ass sm album ones!! having shinee's don't call me & atlantis albums next to their older releases just kinda looks odd because of how large they are. idk wtf they were thinking but its alright bc shinee literally had one of the best releases of 2021

my personal favorite was soyeon’s windy. absolute cutest packaging I’ve ever seen and love that she fought to have the happy meal look. and also joy’s photobook version of hello for all the reasons you mentioned least favorite definitely queens version queendom again and return of the girl by everglow. it doesn’t seem like it’d be bad but anyone with this album knows that it is packed TIGHT. many of my friends had to damage the album just to get it out of the slip

The small red velvet album looks like a polly pocket!! So cute

haha, i literally shouted "yes!!!" when you brought out nct 2021. after resonance p1's photobook felt like it would fall apart with a stern look, and resonance p2's photobook having printing issues and being so stiff you could barely open it, universe was such a breath of fresh air. the binding is gorgeous and stylized and that bible of a photobook actually lays FLAT??? genius, honestly. but we dont talk about the jewel cases.

SMs Case Versions are so pretty especially the Aespa version cause they included technology in there with the AR cd so genius Also Nct 2021! The clear skin looks so good on the shelf (the title on the side is so present and clear) and it holds everything together so it’s "stiff". And because of the binding you can open the pages completely/180degrees so nice to look through

My fave packaging this year would be: - R - (ROSÉ) Bad Love (KEY) Love or Take (Pentagon) Lilac (IU) DFTF (EXO) TBOU:N (DAY6) I don't have to list my least fave ones coz It would be too hard...

romanticize packaging could have been way better considering the whole album is focused on ~romance~ but nah pledis cheap. like i know dreamcatcher does that same kind of packaging but how is theirs more sturdy than whatever take out box nuest got for their 2nd full album. i think there have been hits and misses for the sm albums that have come out this year.. i liked aespa's savage packaging ( the digipack ) and i loved red velvet's queendom one ( the girls version ) but everything else was huge and made shipping even more expensive. hopefully the bag packaging stops next year!!! i want a nice sturdy cover photobook instead!

Freaking agree with TXT's Freeze... Like I had to sold it, even when I love concept and everything. It really made me mad, I even damaged my postcard because of that stupid opening 🤦🏻‍♀️💀 And agree with DFTF and UNIVERSE... Totally beautiful albums. There is beauty in simple things. I actually did not thought I would love UNIVERSE that much when teasers were posted. But once I've seen it... So BEAUTIFUL 💚 And Attacca... Idk I kinda like it but the fact that those are unit photobooks makes me sad and broke 🙈

I think you would have really liked the Emergency Landing version of the "Don't Fight The Feeling" album, because they include post cards of the different planets that each member crash landed onto, and you can insert them under the clear part of the slip cover and it becomes part of the cover. It looks so cool!

I swear the inpact that concept of Joys album had, everyone and their mother edited their idols into this concept

I enjoyed your video! It's cool when more people are a bit more critical about packagings and stuff. Wouldn't mind seeing one in this style with inclusions, as well. Since sometimes I think, wow, gorgeous (i.e. Onewe includes some beautiful stickers designed as stamps) and sometimes it's more like... "what... are you even supposed to do with these...?" There's so many I can agree with! It took me a whole listen through KEY's album to get the Spaceray-gun version open (I literally cut every single one of these nibs open separately) and still didn't get the job done without some minor damages. But the whole package concept was so fun - it really gave me some nostalgia, back to getting toys as a child. The big magazine-like albums from Shinee & Taemin are such an unfortunate concept. Like you said it does a very good job with the images (they are so freaking saturated, lovely!) but it's hard to display them. In fact, I turned the albums backwards, so the spines are in the back. Doesn't make it any better, but well... Romanticize felt so super cheaply thrown together. It would make the top spot on my list of disliked packaging. Astro did a really good job with Switch On, they had a hardcover box with a magnet stripe to open it. Really wished this would've been the case with Nu'est, too. And Attaca... hmm. I honestly have mixed feelings about it. It is floppy (especially the see through wrapper) and that makes it hard to display for me (only having one copy). But splitting it up into units and then still having guts to release it in separate versions, too, really doesn't want to make me get into collecting anything Seventeen-related. Also the fact that there's so many empty pages in it, was pretty discouraging. If they would be more creative with these at least... On the bright side, happy that the inclusions where pretty random, so I wasn't stuck with one unit, only. PS: Haven't had the Pentagon-album on radar, but that does look so cool! I kinda wan't it now, too. :D

Key's packaging is, hands down, the indisputable best of 2021. But I'm surprised that Astro's Switch On was not mentioned.

Top 3 for me would be the pentagon packaging, Key's Bad Love and EXO's DFTF

The pentagon album even made me a bit sad that I don’t Stan them. It’s such an amazing packaging. I also agree with your opinion on universe. I’m always confused when I hear that ppl dislike it. I love the spine and the slip cover. You can fully open the photobook up so easily. One reason why I personally don’t like the straykids packaging so much. You have to bend the pages and kink the photobook so much to really see the full pictures. That’s also why I love the hello future packaging. You can open it up so easily and the pictures are so big, bright and colorful.

me being torn being a pentagon and nu’est stan, with nu’est usual book packaging turning into this flimsy box packaging with five versions vs me actually collecting all 24 copies of love or take with all the member covers (fun fact that shinwon and wooseok actually mentioned if you’re called out for buying so many albums you can just pretend they’re manga books 😂)

I have the don’t fight the feeling packaging where it’s got a clear front with the spaceship on it and you can put the different planet postcards in the front of the contents so you can change the planet the spaceship has landed on and I’m a big fan of that packaging. 👍🏽 I am also bad at explaining that 😂

BAG. PACKAGING. IS. MY. LEAST. FAVORITE. Every time I reopen the sticky seal part, I get so anxious. The Hot Sauce jewel case's bag was awful but the entire design besides of that was amazing.

Not suprised to see svt, nuest and txt with bad packaging. Hybe has been doing a very poor job with albuns. Enhypen too has everything loose inside and bts's butter album doenst match the older ones, its completly out of place. It's sad to see nuest and svt albums decrease in quality because of hybe.

when they revealed the versions for the queendom album I thought the queen version would be like the size of the guidebook ver for the reve festival, I was kinda hoping it was because its soo big to store in the shelf

Key's album was so damn cool! I got the space ray gun version but I couldn't bring myself to rip it ahahaha. Since I only got one copy I sat there for 45 minutes cutting open the top of the plastic so I could slide out the photobook 🙈

This year "Summer Holiday Limited Edition" by Dreamcatcher 100% takes the cake for me. It has everything I love: rigid cover with a magnetic closure, plastic sleeve easy to remove with glitter words that actually complement the cover design, thick photobook with various concepts, good color palette, three photocards and other nice extras like the garland. It was 10/10. Out of the ones you mentioned I really liked the Queendom case version as well! That concept and colors match so well and the whole thing is compact but not cheap. Lovely.

I have Key's album in the ray gun version and I opened it up at the top by using a cutter. I cut through the plastic bit right at the top and slid the album through there and you don't even notice it when its propped upright. There was no way I would have destroyed that amazing packaging and I agree that it's one of the best designs Ive seen lately. Key is such a creative person, and everything from the props to costumes, sound and packaging for this was next nevel.

you really don't need to put so many disclaimers in your videos. it's okay to dislike or even hate albums/groups/songs and if people don't get that it's your own personal opinion then that's their problem

Personally I think ENHYPEN’s Boarder : Carnival has the best packaging. It’s so easy to open and it doesn’t give me anxiety unlike some other albums. I regularly open it because it’s such a good design.

i think my favorite of this year was aespas savage (the book ver which i can’t remember what it’s called). it’s probably because i loved the concept photos but in general i really really liked how the photo book felt like a magazine

i feel like anyone could of either missed or succeeded (no in between) with a christmas album packaging and stray kids succeeded wonderfully! it’s cute how the front also looks like its a wrapped present & they did something different showcasing the photo book which i loved! overall skz never miss 😌

i haaaate nearly everything about attacca aside from the music and photo concepts lol there’s so many blank pages and wasted space, hard to store, at target every single album i saw was all cracked down the spine and in the corners 😩😩 and the inclusions are just everywhere i was stressed opening and closing it lol

Use an exacto knife to open Key’s album. You just need to cut along the perforated lines. You have to be careful not to stab too deep, but it will be clean and intact. Did it with my copy and it worked super well.

funny story when i got my attacca albums, i bought them thinking they could fit where i had my other svt albums but it was just slightly taller so i frustratingly kinda hit it against my shelf while sending a video of it to friends being very frustrated that i now had to move around my albums TT

I have Pentagon’s Love or Take album specifically the mild version (the violet one) and I definitely agree that it really has the best album packaging I have ever had last 2021♥️ Anyways, Pentagon is coming back on January 24th. Please support them♥️
