I'm 44 and remember the Shawn o meter, and still have a newspaper clip from 1989 when cubs won the division, I got it framed to preserve it. Man I was a big fan, still am, this brings back so many memories of waiting to get out of school around 2:15 to run home and watch a cubs day game.

Congrats Shawon, well deserved. I loved him growing up. I used to play shortstop as a little kid, and throw it as hard as I could to the first baseman just like Shawon.

So Happy for these guys, Sandberg would later become my Favorite Player, but my 1st Favorite player as my Dad, Grandparents put on Wgn and watched the Cubs. He was the guy that made me 1st 💕 baseball ⚾

I became a Cubs fan in 1984. I grew up a St. Louis Cardinals fan. But I was taken by the fact there were some really good people playing with the Cubs. I suppose it was Sandberg that got me hooked on the Cubs. But there's Dawson, Grace, and Dunston. And more. So congrats to you guys and best of everything. And thanks for the great times and the memories.

That is the man right there...if i could of i would of Married Baseball straight up...and the the two people who i looked up to as a kid playing baseball in the burbs of Chicago was Mr Dawson and Mr Jody Davis!!! Loved all my Cubbies...i remember when my Mother became a die hard Cubs Fan at the very end of the 70's and start of the 80's and she is the one who taught me when you love someone or something you love it with all your heart and soul...But to me Shawn was like a Michael Jordan in my eyes...i through like him and i mean 1st base mens jist didn't like it so much because they knew that i had q cannon of a arm...but all i wanted was to play Shortstop and i did for the longest time till they sick.of hearing the other players complaining about there hand or fingers being bruised or broken because they had to catch my incoming throw to the bag...and because of that they decided to make me a catcher which i already loved Jody Davis and all...the one thing i couldn't do was run like Shawn at all😢...in that department i was more comparable to Jody Davis in the running department for sure!!! Them where the good old and fun days i tell ya...Time is a thief i tell ya...Go Cubd Go and Congrats 🎉 to my childhood idol, Mr. Shawn Dunstin!!! 👉💯👈💜💙💜👊😁

Yep great memories. Jody Davis lived next door to me in Arlington Heights, he’d be in the parking lot barefooted throwing a football around pretty much on a daily basis. Our sons were born on the same day and I’d see Scott Sanderson come by to pick Jody up in the morning on the way to Wrigley. Great memories.

Young kids imagine Jeyson Heyward Defense, with a Dexter Fowler swag, and Kris Bryant bat...that was dependent.

Kris Bryant bat? Um... NO!
@gregmatyas427210 ай бұрын
Yeah definitely not Kris Bryant’s bat, every Cub fan had to love him even tho he’d piss us off from time to time.

@@gregmatyas4272 i was trying to think of a comp. He actually was alot like Dexter just more power. Betting swing.
@knowledgeuntamed917710 ай бұрын
@@millypoo7713 who you think then? I could of said when Jeyson Heyward could actually bat type bat😅💯. Fowler with more power.

He was special, incredible throws. I didn't realize he was so funny. He looked so serious on the field!

“In `87, Shawon threw out Vince Coleman on a high hopper. Got him by a half-step. Later, Whitey said, `Now, I know why Dunston was drafted ahead of (Dwight) Gooden. He`s got a better arm.'”

@@millypoo7713 Been watching the Cubs since 1968 Dunston was good but HOF material that is what I mean the criteria to get in the HOF since the 80's the bar is diffidently been lowered. Dunstun was not a great player.

@@NOBlinders You do realize this is the Cubs Hall of Fame... and not Cooperstown HOF? He deserves to be in the Cubs HOF ⚾️ 🧢
@NOBlinders10 ай бұрын
@@millypoo7713 I guess if they are that desperate. Now Ernie Banks or maybe Ron Santo, Fergie Jenkins and maybe a couple others deserve it.
@millypoo771310 ай бұрын
@NOBlinders EVERY MLB team has their own franchise HOF. Thus, they're not desperate. And Banks, Santo, and Jenkins already have the ultimate tribute from the Cubs franchise... they all 3 have their numbers retired by the Cubs.
