It's because this story made itself on making the Assassins in to bad characters so they could try and make the guys who killed Lincoln and JFK and started WW2 seem better. It did not work.

@@BayekofSiwaACSteven Piovesan is not Irish. To be honest he did a great job voicing Shay. He gave Shay a mild Irish accent which makes sense as Shay was American born to Irish parents. It makes sense foe Shay to not have a strong accent as he grew up in new York and not in Ireland.

I always felt Rogue had so much more potential with the writing, but damn, Shay was a great character. That whole scene in Portugal is one of my favorites in all of Assassins Creed.

They knew the earthquake but didn't knew it was caused by the precursor artifact and I think Shay was too overwhelmed by his emotions and the trauma of killing people accidentally that he did a drastic decision to defect that ultimately made him be easily manipulated by the templars. That's what I gathered while playing this game anyway.

I wouldn't call it defecting since that implies he was intending to join the Templars initially, if Shay had better communication skills and or Achilles had met him halfway in a compromise and actually heard him out instead of dismissing what he said outright none of Rogue would have happened

I dont understand how people dont like this game. The story is great. They act like they made the assassin's evil. They Didn't make the assassin's evil. They simply showed that after hundreds of years people can forget what something was originally about. You have to remember this is centuries past the prime era of assassin's. The group as a whole is still good. Its just this one pocket of characters that went down the wrong path.

I like the plot because The assassins are trying to get the artifacts because the templars are after them too but the main goal of the assassins is to protect humanity

AC rogue is criminally underrated and overhated. People didn't realize back in the day that it was a farewell to the great game design that they created back in AC black flag. It was supposed to be last of the old gens. The story was on point. Standalone, yet connecting back to the original timeline. Infact clearing up confusions from the previous game. Low on glitches, great ship battles, the twists were truly unexpected. Rogue was the culmination of everything that was loved about the AC series up until then. Short, crisp, action filled, with a fresh narrative. Filled to the brim with narrative dissonance and questions that even we ask today in 2024. It was an absolute masterpiece. Maybe not as legendary as the ezio trilogy, ac3 or BF, but definitely a standalone in a long line of great games.

I hated that they basically turned their backs on him just like ppl do in real life... He fought for a cause and a family that backstabbed him like snakes, it pissed me off that even Liam his brother in arms, wouldn't listen...Shay is hands down the best and greatest protagonist in The assassin's Creed franchise.

This entire games plot doesn't exist if someone gets shay to calm down and explain in precise detail what happened, given no one made it back alive from the first city. Because from the way this scene was, it just looks like angry rambling with little context as to what happened. Literally the game's plot exists due to bad communication skills.

Altair brought the assassin's out of corruption and need for power and saved them. And when he died the assassin's fell. Ezio revived the assassin's and made them stronger then before. And when ezio died the assassin's remained, but without ezios wiseness they became corrupted and foolish. Shay destroyed the assassin's. And when Connor came, he revived the assassin's, not as strong as how ezio did. But enough to make full fledged governments. And as of now (Desmond age) the assassin's are around still in secret fighting templar's

The problem with the assassins and templars is that neither side is right, the majority of assassin's are righteous and actually serve the purpose of the creed and some are corrupt or manipulated like achilles and al mualim was, same with templars, some are good like maybe shay?
