I met Probie and his best bud, Rick Rogow (mentioned several times in his book) in April 1995. Met him at an OTB in Chicago. He was suspended the entire year by Bettman. I was deep in a line to place a bet. He walked up the stairs to enter the room. I recognized him. B-Hawks were playing TO in 1st round playoffs. Said “hey Probie, we gonna beat the Leafs.” He looked at me and said “I think we can, not so sure the refs want us to.” He then asked me where the restroom was. A few races later I stood in a line across from him in line. We talked about the upcoming race. He told me he couldn’t see the favorite losing. Seemed like a very genuinely nice guy. Also ran into him later that year clothes shipping. Said what’s up to him. He said hi back. RIP Probie, you are a true legend!

I worked at the federal prison in Rochester, MN, where Probert did his short federal sentence. Put aside he was a convicted felon, he was a really cool dude. He was so down to earth and I liked talking to him about hockey since I grew up as a North Stars fan. RIP Bob.

Great story- " oh it was Probert- ok, ..." Shayne was tough -just not THAT tough as a rook.... I just Love the way Hockey players are so damn tough on the ice yet so approachable and friendly off of it...... Boxers seem to be the same way.

Probie was the toughest but had a prankster side to him and that tells you he didn't take himself seriously.🤣💩😆😆😆 I used to cut his lawn in Bloomfield and the times I seen him he was layed back and joking around with the lawn crew like a normal guy.

As a sens fan, leafs suck! To be honest, those were the good old days of the real battle of Ontario, lots of great hockey between both teams, the rivalry was born. Gary Roberts and Steve Thomas were Sens killers in the playoffs.

@@Drew86613 Corson won one of those series almost singlehandedly when he shut down Yashin ...Best thing you guys did was add McGratten ...the year you added him was the year you saw the Leafs get just that little bit older and the battle turned in your favor. I think (fingers crossed as a Leafs fan ) that is happening with us and Tampa right now. Tampa seems that little bit older and slower and are having trouble keeping up with our speed.

@@johngallagher72 I have a very difficult time giving the leafs any credit at all, but if I'm going to be fair, they are playing some good hockey right now. Hopefully Campbell can rise to the occasion. The eastern conference is full of killers this year. If Toronto can even get to the conference finals it'll be a huge win for their organization and fan base. Your leafs don't look soft this post season like the last few years. Perhaps this is the year they put it all together. We will see!

The only guy I think he ever said anything negative about in the whole interview was Mike keenan. That must tell you something about Keenan.
