As a mom of 6 I usually listen to bits and pieces of Matt’s podcasts, but never the whole thing. I listened to every minute of this. Shayne, I prayed for you back when I only knew you as a comedian. I knew you were on the right track and figured you would seek truth. Welcome home. I sent this to my skeptic teenage son who is struggling in his faith, but would think you were so “fire.” Now I just pray he listens.

As a college English instuctor (language and literature, degrees from Berkeley and Oxford), I can say that intellectually Shayne could run circles around many people who got into university and quite a few who teach there.

Shayne must have exceptionally high intelligence. He is extremely articulate and well-spoken with very little formal education. I hope he will do Catholic comedy. It is almost impossible to find Catholic comedians who are not disrespectful to the Church. Great interview!

I followed Shayne for quite a while but last year I had to stop because I felt that God was telling me the things he was putting out there were not good for me to consume. I had kept him in my prayers since then. I looked him up again recently and I saw that he had mentioned God and now him publicly proclaiming his faith. I’m very happy for him. It’s always a great joy when someone comes to know the Lord.

Wow, what an interview! I didn't know of Shayne, but I was drawn to this interview because he is my baby brother's doppelganger, tattoos and all, so I can't help but love him. Then, I was so moved by his conversion story, which was remarkably similar to mine which happened shortly after the death of my beloved Catholic grandmother. His grandfather must surely be a saint. Love this interview, I came across Shayne's comedy a few months ago. He is great! I'm so happy for him. I loved when he said, "Thank God for God." it's one of my favorite quotes. Something else he said reminded me of a Flannery O'Connor quote, "All human nature vigorously resists grace because grace changes us and the change is painful." Great interview so far! I loved every single second of hearing this man talk about his faith. Shayne is a legend and I'm so glad a man with his kindness, humor, and intellect is a part of our Church. I especially was stunned by how profoundly simple and honest he was when talking about the Pope during the Q&A. We all should submit, love, and not be "worried" about the Pope, because at the end of the day, God is and always will be in charge.

Norm McDonald was a Christian and openly defended the faith several times. The brave suffering he underwent for nine years while dealing with cancer keeping it from fans, friends, and family because he didn't want to cause them grief or make their relationship about cancer is sacrificial.

Took me a couple days to watch this, every chapter I would turn to my wife with my mouth agape at something so relatable. A desire to masculinize the church, playing complicated board games on my own because no one can make the time to learn and play (Hello Gloomhaven and Brass), and the part where Warhammer 40k is subtly name dropped… didn’t realize Shayne and I were already such close friends lol. I’m a former Sikh, converted after years of subtle tugging toward the church from both Mary and Jesus. God bless this podcast and all the resources and reasons to pray it provides. What an amazing guest. Surely one of the most interesting people I've ever listened to. He's like a neverending fountain of passion and joy. However, as a lifelong lover of Tolkien, one thing I'll never understand is how so many other fans could be so dismissive of the movie trilogy. When that came out, it rocked my world completely and put me on a lifelong quest to try to create something with that kind of heart and impact. And then a year later, The Passion came out! What a decade for movies the 2000's were. Also, finally, I hate to be "that guy", but I can't help but point out that it was Aulë who created the Dwarves, not Manwë. :) But man, how articulate and well-rounded and just all-around fascinating is this guy? And then considering his difficult youth, it's even more impressive. He's a huge gift to the Church!
