In this video I look at goofs from the Filmation Saturday morning Shazam TV series from back in the 70's. Along the way learn how some of the effects from TV shows were done back in the seventies, especially low budget Saturday morning television series like Shazam featuring Captain Marvel. Have a laugh at some of the goofs and mistakes you might have missed as a kid watching this for the first time.
Shazam starred Jackson Bostwick and then John Davey as the comic book superhero Captain Marvel, Michael Gray as Billy Batson, JoAnna Cameron as Isis the superheroine, and Les Tremayne as Mentor.
Some things that superheroes do can really be puzzling and watching them make goofs on television can be a lot of fun. See if you can spot the goof while you watch the video.

Yeah, these old Saturday morning shows were made on a shoestring budget for sure, but they made the best with what they had and our childhood imaginations filled in the details.

I watched "The Shazam!/Isis Hour" every Saturday. I bought the entire "Shazam!" series on DVD. ("Secrets of Isis" is WAY too expensive.)

It is definitely expensive. I think, it's probably because they stopped printing it and now there's fewer copies of the DVD.

@@tvcrazyman It seems both of you may not realize there was a 3 DVD set "The Secrets Of Isis - The Complete Series" and single disc "The Secrets Of Isis." I bought both before they went out of print. Then and now I think the 3 DVD set is the best if one can afford it; it has special features added. Sone of the "morals" sections at the end, with Isis talking to the audience about lessons learned by a character in the series, had to be sourced in alternative ways, since all the original endings were destroyed when the films were edited for syndication. (JoAnna Cameron was not pleased when she learned that.)

Love this show as a kid. Also ISIS. I have both show’s seasons on DVD. As a kid, we didn’t see goofs or were looking for any. We just loved the show. Now, as an adult, it seems silly. Don’t get me wrong! I still love both shows. One that I always wondered about and thought was hilarious was, the lighting bolt on the front of the RV and also Billy’s red and yellow shirt that he always wore. The colors of Captain Marvel. How could the people never figure out that Billy was Captain Marvel? 😂

It is absolutely amazing how in the '70s Shazam was teaching kids about character and ethics and that it's not about whether a person is thin or fat or the color of the skin or hair or any of these other things that make a sane society.. it was about their character. Here we are in 2023 however and it is the exact opposite. Damn I missed the 70s so much. And the '80s. And the '90s. And the early 2000s. To not have woke..

I lost interest in SHAZAM after Jackson Bostwick was gone! I thought he looked more like his comic book counterpart than Davey and spoke more like a "hero" with a manly baritone! But guess what? My love for the character only grew, which prompted me to learn more about his history! NOW, I wouldn't mind owning not only the live action series but also the animated one from the 80s!
