With this "L-Shaped' lounge, the Chaise goes on the right of the Two seater lounge so you have a full 3 seater and one more seat next to it. And, the single seater goes freely on the left. On all sides of the lounge you need an arm rest. That's the easiest way to describe it. Your mother had the best idea but you moved it closer to the wall and window. Move it away from the wall.

The door should not open to the right. If you open it to the left you have more floor space and the couch can be put together the right way. Long part goes under the window and the short part goes against the kitchen wall. It looks so nice though with the rug and curtain.

With Michelle’s husband Atan being a skilled builder/construction worker, he can build a space-saving breakfast table for the fam bam that’s mounted on the wall and can be put away when not in use. For big gatherings, they can purchase a folding table that can also be put away when not in use 😊

The l supposto be the door side,so you can support your arms in the sofa arm space. Other ways you have no places to put your hands and back,you just fall out of the sofa if its like that. And your Mom got it rogth ,body needs 2 supports both sides.

Move the whole couch half a meter to the left, that way the door should open all the way, you can then maybe put a pot plant in the right hand corner in the space between the couch and the wall

What you bought is called a 2-piece RAF (Right Arm Facing) sectional sofa with a matching ottoman. You should have either selected the chaise on the left side (LAF) which would allow you to open the front door or have a chaise a few inches shorter. Really, a regular sofa of the proper length, along with an ottoman, would have been just as good. BTW, I have worked as a furniture salesperson for over 25 years. You made a common mistake of shopping for furniture without your room measurements or a floor plan in mind. Now you need to get a proper sofa for your house with arms on the ends instead of the middle.

The couch is nice and the carpet also. But I think you should.put.the couch aganst the other wall where the blue chairs are. The room will look.larger and the door can open freely. Give it a try.
