You know what? I think the most important skill used in hair coloring is honest self-evaluation! I've learned so much about coloring hair, but the main thing I've learned is that I don't have the patience or energy to do this. You stylists can be amazing artists... 😁

Eell, we go to hundreds of hourd of school just to learn enough not to hurt people, snd it’s years of practice abd continuing education to be professionals. My bff and I are both hair pros and we do global bleaching on each other and even then, it can be so scary. I can’t imagine doing my own.

Just wanna say, make sure you do these things in a VENTILATED ROOM. I legit got chemical burns/was poisoned by just colour remover, could not breathe and am forever got a damaged throat >~> those fumes ain't no joke

I don't always have time or health/energy to comment, and i watch videos on a Playlist that im casting on my tv... however even though i don't comment on every video i do watch them all. I so love watching your reactions to these videos... i swear im also learning, but i don't dye my hair and never have so I'm learning just to know the info for....idk what reason 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 I would never know where to find the hair fails myself and would seriously not enjoy watching the full thing on my own anyway. I use eSalon for roots and toner in between salon visits for highlights. The price of services has almost doubled in my area, so I learned to do some of the services I need and my husband does the back for me! eSalon sends kits with everything you need; I haven’t done their balayage kit though, that I get done by a Pro. Their cool blonde toner kit is absolutely amazing! and it’s $12.00… compared to $65 for a toner service at the salon.

It would help these people if the brands gave clear instructions on how to do it in steps on natural hair (e.g. lengths: bleach, wash, repeat until happy. Then do the roots). Stating how much root to leave out, time etc. What to do on box-dyed hair. And what to do for regrowth all in different sections on the instructions. It would help them too as a lot of those that fail may blame the brand 🤷‍♀️

When I color at home I use old plastic shower curtains to cover the floor, countertop and surrounding area. I.even use one to cover the curtains next to my sink! Lol Afterwards, I either hose them off or pop them in the washer to clean off any product that may have dripped onto them. It may seem like overkill but after having to redo a wooden cabinet after getting bleach on it it's worth the extra few minutes it takes to lay them down.

HB, I bleached my "money pieces" about 2 months ago. They were pretty damaged so decided to wait to go in again to get the platinum I wanted. In my head all I heard in your lovely voice and accent was "10 volumes' but it didn't do much at all. I had to go back in and use 20 and it turned out perfect. I am not upset cuz I didn't cause much damage with the 10 and "better safe than sorry" is a good motto for me. I thank you for all the advice you give us, I will never do my hair again without thinking of you screaming fine sections, lower volume, fine sections again and of course TiKK-ToKK.......also, your videos are getting better all the time. I like how you got right into the "hair fail" right away.

I’m in the process of bleaching my dark brown box died hair. I want to go grey so my natural hair can grow out and blend. I’m doing highlights but doing it over time. Slowly! Oh and I do an Olaplex complete system treatment after and put it in the bleach and dye. Watching your videos has terrified me to be patient lol and work in sections and take my time. I have confidence though. I have been doing my own hair since I was 15 and I’m almost 50 😊

Always good advice again! That other American hairdresser reacted to the same video and was actually happy that she used 30 volumes. I think he even wanted it to be a higher volume so that all the previous box dye could come out in one go. He always wants people to dye the ends once but at such a high volume that their hair comes out ruined. Sadly those who follow his advice always seem to have bleach disasters.

I love colorful hair and I like to change my hair color once or twice a year. I've never been unpatient/arrogant/foolish enough to bleach my WHOLE head by myself, I value my waist length hair too much. I also value the work that my hairdresser does, so I'm not gonna disrespect her like that 😵‍💫 I just maintain the roots in between appointments and smack some direct dye on top, that's it. 😂

I have been coloring my own hair for 20 years. I think the reason people do their roots like this with bleach is because it's what instructions tell you to do for coloring. We all know bleach is a completely different process, but she's a teen. She'll learn the hard way, like so many of us.

That ‘weird’ line is not from the toner, it is from bleaching your roots in the first round. You will end up chasing that line forever!

I don’t know why anyone who has had a good pro bleach process think they can do it on their own. I also don’t know why they complain about the price. Yes it is super expensive but to watch an artist take the thinnest layers and foil each section is amazing! Yes, it takes a long time but it normally comes perfect!! Also, a pro with mix the correct levels of bleach and, maybe most importantly, when you go in saying you want to be white blonde, a pro will tell you how realistic the color choice is and what it will takes to get there. They also work with you on the color that looks best with your skin tone. 💖💖

ProDIY Tip: when you are coloring or bleaching your hair put a petroleum based lotion on all your exposed skin. Arms, legs, your neck, etc. On your hairline put your lotion a finger’s width from your hairline. That way you can color your hairline without interference from the lotion. Wipe color off of your skin quickly and wipe up from the lotion. Finally just buy a cape. They are cheap and are just simpler.

When you said, "She is doing steps 1-2-3 and 4 together!" I nearly fell over from laughter. I'm glad it turn out well for her. I laugh but I don't want to make fun of her. I make fun of the situation of it all. Maybe I should make a video doing the keratin treatment. Now, that is worse having to wash the hair 3 times, blow dry, apply the treatment, rinse, and flat iron 10 passes over short hair! That was funny the first time and exhausting.
