I always think its a bit strange when they "forget" to film the end result, especially since every other step was filmed. I think a hair dresser may have been involved...

Hair-o-ism : The ability to completely botch your hair with your "hair skills" again and again, without ever learning that it is always a bad idea!!

I completely agree with how their hair goes from a train wreck to suddenly being acceptable and they always seem to "forget" to film how they got there. The last time that I trimmed the back of my hair I went a little shorter than I normally would and accidentally created a few steps in my layers and had to go back and fix it after washing it and straightening it. Unless you know how to correct that then I then I don't see how she didn't just end up making it worse. I agree she probably had somebody else fix it for her. I mean if you do, just say you do, why hide it? It's OK to ask a professional for help.

I personally think that you can learn a lot from watching other people f*** things up. I'm like "Yeah, not gonna try that." And you get a laugh out of it, too!

Another thing they don't realize is curtain bangs pretty much have to be styled to look good. If they're just hanging straight/flat they don't look that great.

There is something about cutting your own hair that is very satisfying. What started as a fun project, promissing a wonderful change mostly ends up as a arts and crafts assignment gone seriously wrong. Somehow all common sense leaves your mind at the start.

I have very long, fine hair, just like this girl. For years, every stylist I went to just butchered it. I started cutting it myself, and it's taken me a long, long time to learn how to slide cut layers in the front that look well blended. My husband trims the back - he's an engineer so he cuts it incredibly straight. Also, like Mr. Buddha says, I don't layer the back, only the front and sides.

That was painful. Layering the front is one of the easiest things to do if you just gently and gradually move the scissors downwards.

Her poor hair has literally been through hell and there is still no escape. Poor Buddha is slowly having a stress stroke watching it but is a lot calmer than Brad Mondo who hilariously freaks out watching them love you both lol. Thank you Buddha

After spending almost $700 for mediocre highlights multiple times I decided to learn how to do it myself. I did hundreds of hours of research. I made sure I understood color theory. I watched instructional videos made FOR hair dressers, rather than "DIY do this at home as a n00b" but I truly learned everything about how hair strands work, timing the bleach, toner, fine sectioning, foiling, weaving vs slices, baby lights vs highlights, root taps/smudges/shadows, etc. The first time I did it, it took me like 6 hours to do just the crown of my head. But it turned out really nice. It was extremely tedious and difficult because I wanted to do it right. Even after all that. Hands down cutting my hair is 10x harder and more stressful.

You know when I’m wearing my hair wavy all the time there are two reasons why: 1) my hair is in desperate need of a trim or 2) I cut my hair and it went horribly wrong 😂 sometimes it’s best to just put the scissors away and try again in a month.

You are the best! And I have actually just cut my own hair with layers yesterday after I have watched so many of your videos to pick up all the tips that I could from you! I think you would be proud of what I did! I still need to retouch a bit the back but overall I'm quite happy and my hair are fine and straight too! So thank you Hair Buddha! Now, I'm looking for a way to cover just the hair that has turned white to blond without bleaching or using a permanent color because I have about 10% of white (at 54yo!) and my hair are 100% natural without any coloration or process and just love how healthy they are 😁 And the white ones are very evenly distributed too. I have bought a Beautifying color care from L'Oreal Age perfect, said to add a touch of color to grey hair. It's a non permanent, no mixing coloration. But, I just saw that it says it's not recommended if you have less than 50% grey or white hair? Why do you think? I know I don't have much to loose since it will fade away with washing, but I'm just curious to know what you think! Wavy hair hiding botched haircuts is so true. I cut my own hair because I can't afford to go to a salon. I think I've gotten decent at it over the years, but my naturally wavy hair has hidden many bad haircuts 😅

Late to the party, but years ago, I'd wet and comb to nose and chin at angel then trim downward to get those bangs. You can actually build layers that way from back to front assuming you only have shoulder length with or without more length in back.

All I can think of when I hear people talk smack about how easy it is to cut their hair or dye it ect., is how little to NO respect they have for a an educated and experienced beautician or barber 💈. 🙄 I respect my beautician who has been doing my hair for 30+ years!
