I saw them in late 1984 or early 1985 in Goose Creek, South Carolina (outside of Charleston), in a nightclub setting, and they were outstanding. I think they had recently released their Perspectives album, which was a good album for a band like them coming to maturity in the context of the music of the mid 80s. I liked Cinderella, Special Girl, and a few other songs from that album. They left a guitar string on the stage, and I picked it up. I meant to keep it as a souvenir, but I think I inadvertently used it to string one of my guitars. 😊

This song has an instant hook. If Ai were to write a perfect arrangement in song it would be this song. This song is smooth groovin, but it also has a hard fast undertone that contrasts with the smooth groovin aspect, making a dynamic masterpiece. Listen to how carefully it's pieces blend themselves.

The band America is forever associated with road trips in my mind thanks to a camping trip I took when I was 10 or so; my half-brother's dad took the two of us up to the upper peninsula of Michigan for a week-long camping trip with his family, and on both the drive up and while we were driving around there, one of the albums he played multiple times was America's greatest hits. If you guys read this, I have a song suggestion. Me and my family just lost my grandfather, Richard. He died of lung cancer at the age of 78, on the 15th of March, 2023. Before he was taken away to the funeral home, my mother discovered a song and played it next to him on repeat, because the words meant so much to her. It described everything going on, and how selfless of a man he was. It’s a song called “Just Breathe” by Pearl Jam. It made us all cry. We were truly blessed to have him. As a father, an uncle, and to me, a grandfather. RIP Grampy, we miss you.

As I mentioned before, I was so lucky to have grown up in the 60s. 70s, and 80s music and I cannot tell you the feeling of hearing these songs again. And [some] songs are my least favorites, but they are real 'time machines'. Bread and and the bands like them they have a special tone for the time that they were played. This one reminds me of the loud speakers blaring this out at the swimming pool when I was a carefree kid in the 70s! Probably my favorite America song ... thanks for doing a video on it.

One of my all time favorite songs. I remember hearing it on the radio in the 70s.

I was a student at USM(Mississippi) 1974-75 my freshman year. America came to the campus for a concert. $3 for students. They played their usual hits and said we're going to try a new song out for you. This song.

So many incredible America songs. "Sandman", "I Need You", "Another Try", "Lonely People", "Daisy Jane"... I also would love to see you delve into Dan Fogelberg's catalogue of music. I guarantee that Amber would soon have Dan in her all time favorites list.

In my college years, me and my friends jammed to many America songs for fun and school stress relief. Try the song "I Need You". It's awesome...

You guys were really cracking me up on this one. Sit right on. I remember at that age thinking, it's just to pop for me but the thing is I always realized it was a good song and plus a lot of the girls I knew in junior high and high school really liked it. And then I was listening to it just now and I think it totally rocks. It's such a great song and I love all the layers and from a musician and songwriting standpoint it's just really good and compelling.

I love watching you guys cuz it really looks like it’s your first time hearing these songs, all these great songs from my youth. I’m an 80s rock lover to this day, but I know most of these 70s hits as soon as they drop.

makes me nostalgic - one of my favorite bands of the 70s - in '75 I turned 24. Life was rich the future held promise; it was the best years of my life and music like this can instantly take my mind back bringing to the front lots of sounds - the voices of my children and my young wife - smells of backyard cookouts, christmas, my wifes perfume - events and happenings birthdays, dining out just my wife and I, driving the car we had at the time...

I turned 7 in 1975 when this song was released. It was one of the first records I listened to repeatedly as my older sister had it on 45 and have loved it ever since.
