She Mist Be Obeyed which was released on Prime Movies explores the Nigerian music industry. Released at a time when the Nigerian music industry is still shaking and grieving from the tragic death of Mohbad Imole. The plot of this series follows Shenobola, a female musician who wants to remain the one and only female musician in the industry. She not only wants to dominate the music industry both locally and internationally but She also employs dubious tactics to stay on top!
Where are our Flowers? Because the casting director deserves them for precisely selecting every single character. The cast played all their roles to perfection! They embodied their characters, and they ate! It was a star-studded series but it didn't draw any attention and blare alarm bells in our heads because of the subtle manner it was done. The stars were subtly introduced per episode, rather than shoved in our faces.
The characters were giving! Big purrrrrr! Because they had us hanging on the edge of our seats. We were literally taking a tour through the Nigerian music industry. Characters like Funke Akindele who played She, gave us chills! We know that Funke is a super-talented actress, but in this series, she exceeds our expectations. Other characters like Lateef Adedimeji playing Bayo, who never fail to act out his heart. Akah Nnani who plays Sisqo was giving us a whole vibe! We loved seeing him embody this role. Rachel Okonkwo, Nancy Isime, Waje, Vee Iye, Shaffy Bello, Lizzy Jay, Bishop Imeh, Tobe Makinde, and Jaiye Kuti, to name a few, all performed excellently.
The plot of this movie is brimming with a lot of revealed secrets and truths behind the Nigerian music industry, and possibly the music industries all over the world. We love that the rarely talked-about disease, alopecia was uncovered in this movie, along with the stigma and trauma it causes. Another noteworthy thing in this series is the depiction of makeup as a literal and figurative concealer of the ugly sides of these music stars. The fake love and behind-the-scenes dirty wars in the music industry were also exposed.
We applaud the scriptwriters for creating such a masterpiece. We applaud the producers and directors for bringing the script to life. A great script would fail without a great team to interpret it.
The plot twists are so fresh and unexpected that I bet you scream more than once as the series progresses! The fight scenes were excellently choreographed as well. We're handing out Men of the Moment awards to the cinematographers, visual effects artists, and makeup artists who deserve this special recognition. The cinematography was clean, the lighting was just right, and the locations were perfect. We also love the cliffhanger at the end of Episode 5! We're biting our nails and anticipating the next season!
The two things we can fault in this movie are, first, the accident scene of Livinus played by Mike Ezuronye; the blood looked too fake. And second, the scenes where Victoria played by Nancy Isime was struggling to get off the Okada she entered. Aside from those two, everything else was spot on!
