I hate the hangers and accessories so much tbh. If we can’t have a second outfit at least give us wearable accessories. I like the phones but with the makeup and brushes and sewing machines it’s annoying to have so many multiples. Instead they could give us more necklaces, bracelets, hair accessories, purses, shoes idk something else!

Accessories are definitely less expensive to make. You see all the budget dolls have molded on tops probably because making new molds is lesser expensive than making a basic sewn shirt.

We should receive a second outfit as we are paying more for the dolls. The accessories are random and of little use. It’s disappointing. The series 5 dolls have excessive amounts of gel in their hair. It’s ridiculous. The nice thing about this doll is she’s Vietnamese. I really love your restyle of her hair. This is the first series where I've actually wanted almost all of the dolls (passing on Aiden because I don't collect the boys, and Michelle because her color scheme is too similar to Meena for me). I have Olivia on the way to me as I type this, the delivery driver is just a few stops away. lol I actually restyle these as fantasy characters so soon as I get them, all the clothes and accessories come off and get set aside into a pile which I'll eventually resell. So it doesn't make a huge difference to me about the second outfit, but if I did collect these dolls for the clothes I'd for sure rather have that over some tiny plastic accessories that'll most likely get lost. I think they should just do fashion packs and call it even.

The only good explanation I can find for lack of second outfits is that people already have a few rainbow high dolls or the new fashion packs coming out soon still dosent justify why we couldn’t get second outfits but we can’t always get everything

It definitely is way cheaper for them to include the little bits of plastic as opposed to the full fabric outfits. Sewing is hard work. Most of those plastic bits are made with machines through mostly automated processes. But every single piece of doll clothing is hand made -- with assistance from sewing machines of course but still. Each piece of doll clothing has to be cut, sewn, pressed and finished by human hands. Plus, the wide variety of mostly high quality fabrics used. Now, it takes a lot less fabric to make the clothes at this scale, but that's the only advantage when it comes to sewing for dolls. It still takes time, effort and skill --even more so because sewing with such small seam allowances can be tricky. And i'm sure they have to churn thousands of these out on a time crunch. And the fashions for RH/SH have only gotten more detailed and higher quality with each new release. So I certainly wasn't surprised when the prices for these dolls started to climb. Knowing what goes into crafting the outfits alone, I think the prices for these dolls are somewhat justified. At least for the consumer. For the skilled workers who pump out the beautifully-made tiny garments at break-neck paces...that's a whole other can of worms. TL;DR Sewing is hard, the plastic accessories do indeed save MGA tons of money. Anyway, lovely restyle. Thanks for sharing.

Even as a kid, I kind of hated accessories for my Barbies. I could never keep track of all the tiny pieces, they weren’t practical for playing because things never quite clipped onto their hands or feet quite tight enough to play with…I much preferred clothing and having fashion shows! Plus clothes were just easier for handling and keeping track of.

i think the plastic “dollhouse” pieces are potentially cheaper because it only requires workers to cast a mold (if it’s even that elaborate) and slap a sticker on it, LOL! as opposed to clothing which takes potentially more costly fabric and a lot of sewing time. not to mention room for error in the stitching on clothes (which i’m sure many of noticed if you’ve collected any rainbow high or shadow high). most plastic pieces that come with these dolls seem to have solid colored parts or are just one solid color with a sticker. (not detailed) either they’re saving money on materials, labor, or both! just my personal theory, however!

She turned out stupid CUTE! I feel she is very over looked compared to some of the gals in this line because she comes off as simple but I do believe a lot of thought was put into her style and outfit. I would love to know what her second outfit would have looked like. I am not a huge fan of all the plastic bits besides the phones and water bottles if they have them. I think they could nix about half of the extra bits and just give them a purse and I would be happy. I do like the drop in price though. I really liked the super tall pony tail. It almost reminds me of a 50s beehive hair do. I really wish that they had painted her scalp black. That blue stands out way too much.

The accessoires are certainly cheaper. For the actual demographic (not doll collectors) it's also not "too much" cuz parents are usually only going to buy one doll every series (if even), perhaps two if its like a birthday or so. It's just a joke when those dolls cost more than the dolls with two oufits, which is the case in germany. It's ridiculous.

The Kim I got had so much gel in her hair that it was like a brick! 😅 And yeah, I had the same problem with her hair. So many flyaways just from combing the hair, like why is her hair like this. Her hair is the same type of hair as Glitch’s, but WAY worse as far as quality. Also, I’m not a huge fan of all the accessories either. Couldn’t they at least give us something wearable like necklaces, bracelets, shoes, earrings, etc? Ya know, giving us an extra outfit along with the accessories would make the dolls worth the $25 - $30+ dollar price wouldn’t it?
