Those maggots probably save her life by preventing infection and keeping her wound clean. I know it sounds gross and weird but hospitals sometimes will use maggots to clean wounds. I don’t know the protocol but know it happens

I don't understand how you expect to rescue anybody if you just flight above the thick forest. Maybe if they can get the approximate location of the crash, the could get on the ground. I know they cannot land, but maybe helicopter. I don't know, just saying that there should be a way to search closer to the ground. I'm aware that maybe the area of the crash it is not reachable not even by boats much less walking. I imagine how hopeless you will feel when you can see them flying and they don't.

That's odd. planes get hit with lightning all the time. not usually a problem. Might be plane size though. Smaller planes might be more susceptible.
