Ah! Nothing better than some friendly rivalry to get your competitive nature to kick in before you hit the water. Love it.

Cody, you should have given the context of the Cate Campbell's remark. Which was made in response to Bob Bowman saying that its the total number of medals that counts rather than the number of gold ones. Which was completely opposite to what the Team USA usually counts as success or failure. So here Mr Bowman's moving goal posts didnt go unnoticed 😂 And to be honest whatever she said wasnt as nearly as hilarious as the legendary "we will crash you like a guitar" 😂 At the moment Australian girls do look stronger, but in the world of swimming everything is possible. Remember Beijing 4x100 freestyle relay? 😂

That's totally fair. I'm not really big on trash talking. But the way you explained it I have a lot better understanding of it now than I did before.

I think its what the sport needs, there are so many iconic moments back in the day like when the Aussies played the air guitars but these days you don't have many rivalries so winning doesn't mean as much

So growing up in PVS zone the trash talk was epic. You always could pick out the best swimmer in the 80s and 90s then as all you has to do was find the loudmouth and there you go. Lol.

Yeah, it's the water temp. I have a rough time doing any serious workout in water over 82F, and unfortunately now I only have access to multi-use pools where they keep it around 83-85F year-round.

I live in Aus and to my knowledge, all public pools are heated to 28 degrees (82 Fahrenheit). The pools we train at in the mornings are 25m learn to swim pools and heated to 32 degrees (89 Fahrenheit).

Agreed Cody, no malice here, just stoke the rivalry. I’m sure the US will be back to their usual best for 2024 as they always are. Cate’s comments are not endorsed by the team but sometimes the resulting media attention is a good thing.

Cody I agree with you when racing you need the reverie so when you are at the marshalling it like you are Friends but when you step you foot on the bocks it is time to get what ever it is that made you feel this way and use it That is way I agree with you and I’m from Australia and we need this to make this more interesting

Tired of people giving Campbell a pass. I’m fine with everything. Accept her comment about the US national anthem she is one if the biggest choker of all time. Rio 100 meter free. Lol. I’m disappointed with the us response “see you in Paris”Cate I hope you see Simone / Penny in your dreams every night.

I remember training in body temperature 37°c/100f. Eventually was allowed out half way through (1hr), as you could see the steam coming off the pool. Don't believe people who say they "didn't know they doped". I used to check everything thoroughly, even meds off docs. So there's no excuse

That happens in every sport that I can think of. If said in a non venomous manner it can be used as motivation to better the other party. The way I see it you can choose to take it one of two ways. You can choose to be offended and hurt and woe is me or you can choose it to inspire you to work and try harder.

I don't think she was malicious about it. She has even said she has friends who are American swimmers. Competition is always good and it's bringing publicity to the sport. She is not a bad person and she was doing it jokingly. There was probably some truth in there and that's why it made it interesting.

Cate Campbell later said that she was having a bit of fun, though her team mates were very uncomfortable about it. She has been a class act for many years so it was way out of left field for her.

Mr. "Swimmers have nothing but rose petals coming out their butts" Rowdy Gaines is so over-the-top positive it's disgusting. I could not believe he actually mentioned that Huske was slow in the mixed medley relay and thus not on the women's medley relay in Fukuoka. I could literally list things he's been ridiculously positive about, but the following sums it up nicely. During the American Olympic trials, (either London or Rio), there was a woman who SHOULD have been competing in her country's own trials. Unfortunately, her coach had filled out the wrong paperwork and she ended up having to compete at ours. She was an absolute shoe-in for her country's team, but nowhere near making ours. Rowdy literally put a positive slant even on THAT, saying something to the effect that she'd have another chance in four years and that this wasn't a problem. She, of course, was heartbroken. FINA is a joke and when Lily wagging her finger at a camera is "controversial" the sport officially has issues. Thanks for the video and so sorry you had to swim in such a hot pool. That is a deal-breaker for me.
