The upper hand rail is well designed and somewhat hidden as it’s integrated into the cabin roof. Yes, she used both hands on a handrail and had good footing. As good as she could do, under the circumstances.

Absolutely right. If you know the waters presumably you have some idea before you hit the bad part of the sea state which enables you to don a lifejacket/buoyancy aid before you get there. I appreciate it's a very wimpy thing to protect your life, however if you look at it that you're helping to protect the lives of others who will unselflessly come to your aid if you get into trouble then you can feel more manly about yourself.
