He did in the manga. It was really short. In the manga he looked anxious, sweaty but here he was more serious. I was upset they didn’t really show it the way it was shown. But when I think about it again… the way they dramatized it was way better in the anime then in the manga. The drops of blood, her father, how everyone bowed. You felt it more. Manga 8, Chapter 40

It’s almost scarier and more shocking for him that her eyes were still open but almost lifeless when he turned her over. He was almost trying to bring her back to life calling out to her when she clearly wasn’t there to respond to him. Her closing her eyes as she passed out must have almost been a relief since it meant she was still alive when her eyes were open. In the manga we hear her inner monologue as she passes out and she tells Jinshi to stop talking as she fades.

@@AlexisVies I just re-read the specific two chapters right after, she's more surrounded by his attendants (like the old lady and Gaoshun), but Jinshi is also really worried. They make sure not to put too much of a strain on her, but Maomao personally "recovers" pretty quickly. However, take this with a grain of salt, as I don't really remember every detail in the following chapters.
